Google Chat extends message bubble support to iPhone
It has gone through the process of removing the name of Hangouts and transforming it into simply using the Google brand as the signature of various communication services (I will not go into details about the previous Allo and Gtalk…).
Relatively speaking, Hangouts Chat/Google Chat, which is more professional and suitable for productivity use, may be due to the change from being limited to Workspace to being open to all users. Therefore, I hope to give people a different brand temperament from Hangouts, which was taken over.

However, the strange thing is that this change is not known to be a silent protest with Apple in the RCS support dispute of “Blue Bubble vs Green Bubble” or something else. In short, this interface revision has not been updated simultaneously in the iOS version of Google Chat.
What’s interesting is that with Apple announces official support for RCS Universal Profile messaging in 2024, it didn’t take long for the news that the barriers that were regarded as blue bubbles might be broken. Google Chat also officially announced on the official blog that the iOS version has confirmed that the update of the new message bubble interface will be launched from now on.

According to the official demonstration, this message bubble interface is actually very similar to the interface of communication services that many people are used to. Each message will be surrounded by bubbles with a background color, and by distinguishing the types of received and sent messages, people can distinguish the types of messages at a glance. The entire Hangouts Chat / Google Chat interface, which was previously relatively stiff and felt more like a real-time discussion board than a chat service, has become more popular and more in line with the experience that ordinary users expect from communication services.

This kind of interface change is basically in line with the trend. This communication service, which was originally built to be more focused on professional work environments such as Slack, has gradually become more oriented towards mass users.
On the other hand, the timing of this iOS interface update coincidentally happened to be not long after iMessage announced that it would support the RCS standard – although as long as you catch Google Chat, it is basically a mutual transmission within the network, and there is no problem like Google Message and iMessage that cannot communicate over the Internet (the previous situation was just a little ugly at best). But it also makes people feel that there is a sense of responding to the opponent’s goodwill.
I don’t know if everyone thinks this meaning exists, or is it just a coincidence?
