Foreign media evaluated the new graphics cards launched this year, and NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel all disappointed

So far, NVIDIA and AMD have almost finished launching all new generation graphics cards, while Intel still doesn’t know when the next generation will debut. Recently, the well-known hardware media Tom’s Hardware shared an article comparing the GPU experience in the past 12 months. Although a few graphics cards are indeed good, overall, they are still quite disappointing.

Foreign media evaluated the new graphics cards launched this year, and NVIDIA, AMD, and Intel all disappointed

In the past 12 months, NVIDIA, AMD and Intel have launched a total of 14 new generation graphics cards, and Tom’s Hardware rated them as: disappointing.

Among the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series, the RTX 4090 has always been the most powerful graphics card and is excellent at 4K. Even when paired with a powerful CPU like the Core i9-13900K, it will encounter a CPU bottleneck. It’s just that the price is really a bit high and not affordable for most people.

The lower-level RTX 4080 is not so good. From a performance cost perspective, compared to the RTX 4090, the RTX 4080 costs more, but its performance is relatively poor. It would be more attractive if it had a 320-bit memory interface bandwidth and 20GB VRAM. Tom’s Hardware believes that the RTX 4080 is currently selling for $200 more than it was originally worth, and the RTX 4070 Ti is about the same.

The RTX 4060 Ti 16GB is currently the worst graphics card in the 40 series. The 8GB version is better, but only a little better. If RTX 4060 is seen as the next generation of RTX 3050, people will be very satisfied, but in fact it is the next generation of RTX 3060, and the current price of this one is still too expensive.

Tom’s Hardware:Overall, nearly all RTX 40-series graphics cards are selling for $100 to $200 more than they should be.

AMD has only launched three latest-generation GPUs at the moment, with two more expected soon, but that doesn’t change anything.

The specifications of the RX 7900 XTX are quite good, especially the 24GB VRAM. Although the performance is about 25% lower than the RTX 4090, the $949 (current price) is not too outrageous, but it is not perfect yet. The price of RX 7900 XT when it was first launched was too close to that of XTX, so it is not worth recommending at all. Now that the price has been reduced to about $750, you can consider buying it. If you are considering VRAM and rasterization performance, then this one will be a good alternative to NVIDIA graphics cards.

The RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 are expected to be launched in September. We don’t yet know how much the performance will be improved and the price, so we won’t comment further. As for the most entry-level RX 7600, the price is still a bit too high.

Tom’s Hardware:Just like NVIDIA, the price/performance ratio is not high enough.

Finally, there is Intel. Almost every graphics card from Intel was launched later than expected. At least the price is very reasonable. Overall, the most recommended one is the Arc A380. If you do not have high requirements for display performance, this card is very worthy of reference and the price is very cheap. Tom’s Hardware is looking forward to the surprises brought by the next generation of Battlemage.

After tracking this year, it is true that among all the graphics cards, only the RTX 4090 is amazing in many aspects. The other cards feel like transitional graphics cards, especially the NVIDIA RTX 40 series graphics cards. The performance has been greatly improved after DLSS 3 is turned on.

Therefore, for those who are not in a hurry to change to a new graphics card, it is highly recommended to wait for the next generation, or else buy it when there are big specials and discounts (or consider the RTX 30 series graphics cards that have already fallen to the bottom of the market).
