Many people charge their mobile phones by their bedside when sleeping. This habit can have serious consequences if battery or heat dissipation problems occur. Recently, a foreign netizen shared that she put her Samsung Galaxy S25 FE on the bed to charge while sleeping, and it suddenly exploded in the middle of the night. She and her 8-year-old son were both in bed at the time, which was quite dangerous. Fortunately, it only caused minor burns in the end.

First of all, this incident was reported by a single user, and Samsung has not publicly stated the real cause. Therefore, it cannot be directly inferred that the Galaxy S25 FE has a large-scale security flaw, and it may also be a problem in use. However, according to Android Authority tracking, this is the third report of fire related to the Galaxy S flagship series this year.

Samsung Galaxy S25 FE reportedly exploded while charging in the middle of the night, causing minor burns to the user

A Reddit user idgaf88__ recently shared on r/samsunggalaxy that her Galaxy S25 FE exploded on the bed while charging. She was woken up by a sound similar to explosions and fireworks, and then saw metal and plastic fragments flying everywhere.

According to her, this Galaxy S25 FE was purchased through Virgin Canada about 6 months ago and is still being paid in installments. The mobile phone was charging on the mattress when the incident occurred. She specifically clarified that it was not under the pillow, but near the top of her head. She said the fire brigade later attended the scene to deal with the smoke and placed the phone in a salt water bath.

She said her hair was singed and her neck suffered small burns. Although her 8-year-old son was not seriously injured, he was greatly frightened and even became afraid of any charging device. There was also a smell in the room and some property damage.

我現在還是沒辦法進房間,因為味道太可怕了,只要你有聞過電池爆裂後的味道,就會懂我在說什麼。

This Galaxy S25 FE used the USB-C cable included in the original box, but the charging head was a third-party 20W USB-PD charger (most mobile phones now do not come with a charger):

She also added in a follow-up message that there was a leather wallet protective case on the outside of the phone, and some coins were also placed inside the case. This protective case may affect heat dissipation, but modern smartphones have temperature control and protection mechanisms. In theory, charging should be suspended, performance reduced, or even automatically shut down when the temperature is abnormal.

She subsequently contacted Samsung and received a case number, but has yet to receive any response.

Android Authority reports mentioned that this is the third recent report of fire related to the Galaxy S flagship series this year. The previous incident that attracted more attention was the Galaxy S25 Plus incident., users claimed at the time that the phone exploded while charging in November 2025.The other case is Galaxy S24, a user in South Korea claimed that the mobile phone suddenly expanded, smoked and became hot during normal use and without charging, eventually causing minor burns on his hands.

In any case, if a mobile phone or lithium battery really smokes or catches fire, remember to stay away from the scene to avoid inhaling smoke, do not touch a smoking or burning mobile phone with bare hands, and notify emergency services.
