Casual Gamers tests many games, and the picture below is one of them, “Castle 4: Remastered.” In the highest quality setting of 1440p, the difference between 1% and 0.1% Low FPS is the most obvious, especially the 0.1%. Of course, the average FPS has also improved. The RTX 3070 8GB originally could not run 60FPS, but after changing to 16GB, it can reach 66.4 FPS:

So in summary, it still depends on the games you play. For some, 8GB is really enough, and there is no need to use 16GB. Casual Gamers believes that for today’s games, it is best to have at least 12GB of video card memory, and 8GB is really not feasible.
I think if you don’t play AAA game titles and your budget is entry-level, then 8GB is still fine. You don’t have to go for 12GB or 16GB and spend more money.
