AI is now a key development focus for many companies—you can see brands trying to weave AI elements into just about everything. Google is no exception. They’ve poured significant time, effort, and resources into trying to integrate their own AI models across their products and services. Gemini Show it off in front of as many people as possible. On another level, because Google has such a vast combination of software and hardware, it’s hard for Gemini to maintain consistent availability, so while you might see Gemini on some of Google’s web products, it may not yet be available on comparable products on Android.
Google Docs for Android is getting Gemini’s powerful summarization tool.
That said, it’s still great to see Gemini finally coming to Google Docs on Android. Users will now be able to get instant summaries of any document right in the app, and it’s not just in English either—it’s rolling out in over 20 languages, including Chinese, making it accessible on a global scale to some extent.
In March 2025, Gemini first appeared on the web version and elsewhere. If your documents contain many complex topics, or you need to summarize certain content into a simple paragraph, Gemini can now directly detect and analyze content from documents, organizing it for you right away like a secretary, without having to spend a lot of time copying and pasting raw data as in the past.
Furthermore, users can also ask questions about the content of documents, making it easier to find the specific information you’re looking for. This feature has already begun rolling out gradually, and starting July 2, 2025, a broader version will be fully rolled out. In terms of availability, a Google account requires a Business Standard, Enterprise Standard, or Enterprise Plus plan; users with Gemini Education and Education Premium accounts can also access it. You don’t need to do anything with the app—once you have access, you should be able to see the feature making its presence known in a very prominent way.
