It is not uncommon for phishing emails to impersonate well-known brands and services to lower users’ vigilance and defraud sensitive information. Everyone will be alert and cautious when receiving emails from unknown sources, but what if the sender looks very trustworthy? There are phishing emails sent in the name of YouTube, which are confusing and difficult to distinguish. You really can’t tell them unless you open your eyes.

Google warns everyone about fake YouTube phishing emails

YouTube has recently detected a series of phishing emails purporting to use the platform’s name, and the platform is warning users to be aware of fraudulent emails attempting to impersonate YouTube channels. According to Yon the ouTube Help ForumIn an article, there was a post stating that phishing emails pretended to be from local and international YouTube. The senders of these emails were marked as “no-reply@youtube.com” and were sent with subject lines such as “YouTube policy change” and “The YouTube team sent you a video.” It looked like a real email sent from an official account.

Phishing emails are designed to trick users into revealing sensitive information, such as your login credentials, personal data, or financial information. In this case, the email address used by the bad actor looks very similar to a legitimate and legitimate email address.

YouTube revealed in a Twitter post earlier this month that it had received reports of a phishing attempt using the aforementioned email address, which apparently spoofed recipients by claiming to be the service’s official address. The emails direct recipients to a link where they can view purported changes to YouTube’s rules and policies.

according to Report by Sky News, some users also saw warning words in these phishing letters to make the recipients panic, claiming that if they choose to ignore the email, their account will be restricted once the seven-day period is up, prompting users to take action immediately by following the content of the letter, otherwise they may lose access to the account. The email also contains links to videos or attachments, any of which YouTube warns against clicking to avoid additional risks such as hacking. It’s worth mentioning that phishing emails often point to addresses that contain fake login pages or malware download links.
