ASUS launched a commemorative new bundle “ROG XBOX Ally X20 Bundle” during COMPUTEX 2026 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the ROG brand. This special edition set includes two core products: the slightly modified ROG XBOX Ally X20 gaming handheld console, and the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR glasses created in collaboration with XREAL. The combination of “handheld console × AR” presents ROG’s imagination of future gaming types.

ROG XBOX Ally X20 is a slightly upgraded model of Ally X, but the appearance changes are quite eye-catching. ASUS has reinterpreted the handheld shell with a 20th anniversary-themed translucent black and gold color scheme. The internal structure can be vaguely seen, and it is embellished with gold details, giving it a more collectible commemorative feel. This design language continues ROG’s consistent sense of technology and mechanical style, and also makes the Ally X20 instantly recognizable among many handheld devices.
The focus of this specification upgrade is on the screen. Ally X20 upgrades the original 7-inch IPS panel to a 7.4-inch OLED, bringing a higher screen-to-body ratio and more detailed borders within the same body size. OLED’s high contrast, deep black levels, and vivid colors make game graphics more immersive. Especially in dark scenes, HDR effects, and high-speed dynamic graphics, the visual improvement is quite obvious. However, OLED panels are relatively heat-resistant, so ASUS has re-adjusted the internal structure and configuration to allow the heat dissipation module to dissipate heat more efficiently, ensuring that stable brightness and performance output can be maintained during long-term gaming.
ROG XBOX Ally X20 has also made subtle adjustments to the control experience. The most eye-catching thing is the adjustable cross-keys introduced for the first time. In the default state, the cross key is slightly higher than the disc, which is suitable for general operations; if the player prefers fighting games, it can also be switched to the mode with the same height as the disc, making the direction input more accurate and the combos easier to perform. The ABXY buttons on the right side have also been fine-tuned simultaneously. The button shape has become more rounded, and the spring tension has been reduced, making the pressing feel lighter and smoother, and making it less prone to fatigue after long-term play. Although these details are not as eye-catching as the hardware specifications, they are key changes that can directly improve the operational quality for core players.
Currently, the ROG XBOX Ally X20 is only sold in the form of a set, which is bundled with the ROG XREAL R1 Edition 20 Gaming AR glasses. Featuring a lightweight design and high-brightness display, this AR glasses can project Ally X20 images onto a virtual large screen, creating a more immersive mobile gaming experience. This combination is quite attractive for players who often travel, travel, or want to enjoy large-screen games in a limited space.
ASUS has not yet announced whether the Ally X20 will be sold separately, but said it will update the information if there are follow-up plans. Considering the high popularity of the Ally series among players, the possibility of launching a stand-alone version in the future is still quite high.
