Although Google CEO Sundar Pichai rushed to yesterday’s press conference and announced Google’s response to ChatGPT, the “Bard” AI chatbot, it seems to have led to a lack of explosive points (still not being found on mobile phones is considered a explosive point). But for users in Taiwan, this conference brought a lot of surprises! Because Taipei City has also become one of the first cities in the world to play new features! You can also play it in Taipei! Google Maps’ immersive real-life scenes and indoor AR navigation like aerial shots are gradually launched around the world

Although Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced Google’s response to ChatGPT before yesterday’s press conference.“Bard” AI chatbot, seems to lead to a lack of explosive points (It’s still a big deal that I can’t find it on my phone.). But for users in Taiwan, this conference brought a lot of surprises! Because Taipei City has also become one of the first cities in the world to play new features! Although only part of it…

Released at Google I/O last year, the “Immersive View” and “Indoor AR Navigation” functions that many people are looking forward to can be used inside and outside (really inside and outside, even indoors)Simulated flight screen) map navigation experience, the convenience of Google Maps will be upgraded to an unprecedented level.

Benefit from combining light fields and images through AI machine learning neural radiance fields (NeRF) technology(noToy! ), a technology that “uses neural networks to superimpose several still photos collected on the Internet, retaining only the main subject image in the photo, and removing redundant people, cars, and non-fixed obstructions in the photo. Even if the light sources in these superimposed photos are different, the algorithm will automatically balance the light and reconstruct a highly realistic 3D image.”

Google will combine this function with information such as weather forecasts and crowd status, and provide users with the most comprehensive information in an intuitive display through the new “Immersive View” interface with a 3D surround viewing effect like aerial video.

This feature has also been officially announced to be launched today in London, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Tokyo, and it is predicted that it will be rolled out to several other European cities in the next few months – in fact, you can already see many major attractions in Taipei City that seem to have introduced immersive surround videos (probably!). I believe that Taipei City, which has also received the new Indoor Live View indoor AR navigation in the first wave, has a good chance of becoming the next wave of supporting cities for immersive real-life scenes, right?

The indoor live navigation feature is confirmed to be expanding to 1,000 new locations around the world in the coming months, including airports, train stations and shopping malls. Google has also included cities including Berlin, London and Taipei in the new Android and iOS support lineup.

Google Maps for Android and iOS will also introduce Glanceable directions in the coming months, allowing you to see navigation status on your phone’s lock screen. The part for iOS will be implemented in the Live Activities interface.
