It seems that Android will finally introduce Google Maps electric vehicle long-distance charging station planning function

Although the current electric vehicles are basically not considered “affordable” because of their prices. Therefore, the built-in computer system of the vehicle will almost always have a multi-point planning function for long-distance charging stations that can effectively reduce range anxiety – whether it is a brand-built map or an electric vehicle model using Android Automotive OS, it can basically meet the needs of most electric vehicle owners.

But now it seems that it may also hope to seize the usage of non-Android Automotive OS car models. In the latest version of Google Maps, it is now confirmed that there are signs of support for the planning function of long-distance charging stations for electric vehicles. Continue reading the report. It seems that Android will eventually introduce Google Maps’ long-distance charging station planning function for electric vehicles.

It seems that Android will finally introduce Google Maps electric vehicle long-distance charging station planning function

According to the code found by foreign media 9to5Google digging into Android Google Maps v11.65, it can be seen that Google seems to be finally willing to open up the long-distance charging station planning function of Google Maps electric vehicles owned by Android Auto / Android Automotive, which was basically limited to specific electric vehicle models, in more situations where the general Android version of Google Maps can be used.

At this stage, in fact, Google Maps has already added a new setting function to the charging socket mode used by electric vehicles. It initially demonstrates the sincerity of the function in meeting the needs of the increasing number of electric vehicle owners in searching for charging stations during their journeys. However, the long-distance planning function, which can provide multiple charging points to replenish power as the journey exceeds the range, was previously only available on Android Automotive phones on limited models.

In the APK teardown of the new version of Android Google Maps, we can see warnings about battery capacity, as well as text that is obviously related to the long-distance navigation function of electric vehicles, such as “You need to join a charging station to reach your destination.”

By the time you get there, your battery will be low
Charging stop needed to reach destination
Trip too long to auto-add charging stops. Add stops after you start.
No internet. Can’t load charging stops.
There aren’t enough compatible charging stations to get to your destination

These codes dug up by foreign media should basically determine Google Maps’ intention to provide more complete electric vehicle navigation on Android systems (or even iOS?). However, since the non-car version may not be able to obtain the vehicle’s battery information, I believe that this aspect of the navigation experience will also require additional input of the car model or the estimated and maximum battery capacity before it can be used, right? It’s no wonder that it hasn’t been officially launched yet – but at least it can be confirmed that Google Maps also intends to follow the footsteps of Apple Maps for electric vehicle navigation.
