When choosing flagship computer hardware specifications, heat dissipation is a very important part. If it is not used properly, you may not be able to obtain the highest performance. And everyone must have heard that in some places with relatively high latitudes, because the temperature is relatively low, heat dissipation becomes easier. Recently, a super cold air mass swept across China. Some people moved the i9-13900K and RTX 4090 consoles to a place where the temperature was only -53 degrees below zero, and then ran the test outdoors without water cooling or even air cooling. The clock speed of the i9-13900K can reach 6.18GHz, and the CPU temperature is only about 15 degrees.

Someone in China ran i9-13900K and RTX 4090 host outdoors at -53 degrees below zero. The CPU clock reached 6.18GHz but the temperature was extremely low.
A few days ago, the Soda Baka channel of China’s bilibili uploaded a video “Minus -53°C? Mohe is extremely cold and windy, feel the power of the lowest temperature in the country! [Technology]”. Last year, they created a “violent fan” product to help dissipate heat from computers. In that video, they promised that if the number of likes reached 100,000, they would bring this product to the coldest place in China. The result was that the standard was quickly reached. With the recent arrival of China’s super cold air mass, -50 appeared in northern China. In the extremely cold weather, they took this time to redeem this promise, so this test was conducted:

They came to the northernmost town in China, which is “Arctic Town in Mohe City, Daxinganling Region, Heilongjiang Province.” It is said that when you look up, you can see Russia next door:

At the beginning, they ran the test with bare metal and took the motherboard outside without using any radiator. During the operation, the surface temperature of the CPU was only -1.8 degrees. She even laughed and said that natural heat dissipation is king:

Then they added some simple cooling fans, and then turned on the AIDA64 baking function to test. Without the help of liquid nitrogen and dry ice, the CPU temperature during the baking process was only 0 degrees. This is really fierce:

However, the outdoor temperature is too low. Although the computer can run, many machines are affected by the low temperature outdoors and cannot be used normally. For example, the thermometer is frozen, the screen update rate is reduced, etc.
Then I changed to test the entire host, but it didn’t go well at first. When the AIDA64 was baked in, the CPU overheated and dropped frequency, and the temperature reached 70~80 degrees. This was because the outdoor temperature was too low (about -32 degrees at the time), causing something inside to freeze, which in turn affected the CPU temperature:

Finally, it was paired with the violent fan they made, and it finally ran successfully. They even left it overnight to see if it could continue to operate:

The default clock of the i9-13900K CPU processor directly reaches 6.18GHz, which is really super high, and the temperature is only between 15 and 19 degrees. If overclocked in this environment, I don’t know if it can break the previous record of 8.196GHz:

The temperature of RTX 4090 is astonishingly low, only -40 degrees:

It was no problem even after being left outdoors for 5 hours, and it can still be used. The core temperature of the graphics card became -30 degrees, and the CPU temperature was only in single digits. It can be seen that in an environment with a relatively low ambient temperature, it is indeed easier to dissipate heat.
