Microsoft’s recent moves and updates have almost all revolved around AI-related features, with Copilot being a major focus that they are actively developing and integrating into their various services. According to new notes for the latest Edge Canary, Microsoft is testing deeper Copilot integration in Microsoft Edge, including Copilot-powered troubleshooting within settings. Additionally, another test involves automatically launching Copilot in the sidebar when you open the browser on Windows 10 or Windows 11.

According to foreign media Windows Latest’s reportMicrosoft Edge may soon add an “Ask Copilot” button to its settings. While it’s still unclear what effect this new integration will have, it could potentially allow you to use Copilot’s capabilities to help locate the source of problems and guide you through fixes when certain browser features aren’t working or when you run into obstacles in the settings.
Currently, when using Microsoft Edge, you must hover over the Copilot icon to launch it. Windows Latest also found strings for two new features in the code, suggesting that in the future, Copilot may automatically open when you open a new tab or start the browser. Of course, the features mentioned above are currently experimental and for reference only, as Microsoft has repeatedly tested new features in Edge Canary in the past without officially releasing them.
Additionally, Microsoft recently added a new AI feature, “Scareware Blocker,” to Microsoft Edge version 133. This feature protects you from online scams by understanding web content and blocking access in real time. As AI becomes more aware of scam patterns, this feature will naturally evolve in the future, giving it an advantage over the current Microsoft Defender SmartScreen.
Although Microsoft Edge is now equipped with a Copilot sidebar, that is far from enough to make it a true AI browser in every sense of the term—at best, it can only be considered a browser with AI features. Microsoft wants to prove that Microsoft Edge truly integrates Copilot’s strengths to deliver the best features, offering a more comprehensive experience through deeper integration.
