Google announced that the latest Gemini Live AI features will launch on the Pixel 9 series.

Following Samsung’s announcement that a new lineup of devices will also deeply integrate Gemini AI features, Google has simultaneously announced that its own Pixel series will soon receive most of the Gemini AI-related experiences.

These include new support for Gemini Live to interact with more media, a new interface for Circle to Search, the ability to execute tasks across apps and services through Extensions, and the “Gemini Deep Research on Pixel” feature, which lets you complete research documents in just a few minutes by simply speaking on your mobile device—tasks that previously would have taken hours or more.

The key point is, not only can the latest Pixel 9 series receive it (the new Gemini Live features are reportedly available right away — have you all updated yet?), but even the previous Pixel 6, Pixel 7, and Pixel 8 series can basically get it within the next few months — that’s really generous, isn’t it?

Below, we’ll also briefly introduce the items in this update.

Gemini Live, which just got a fresh interface update a couple of days ago, will now let you add more elements to conversations, such as images, files, and even YouTube video links. For specific advantages, refer to the official description (machine translated):

・圖片:將圖片添加到您的對話中,Gemini Live 可以提供詳細資訊和建議,或幫助即時解決問題。
・檔案:與 Gemini Live 分享文件,然後進行討論。
・影片:針對 YouTube 影片進行對話,包括見解、說明和推理。

Additionally, the Pixel phone lineup announced that it will bring screen sharing and live video features via the Gemini app, powered by “Project Astra,” which aims to build future universal AI capabilities.

It can even use Gemini extensions to work across YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail, and even third-party services like Spotify – for example, the official demo shows asking for a recipe and automatically saving it to Google Keep, or asking about nearby events and sending them to a friend via Google Messages.

The Circle to Search screen search interface has also been improved, now featuring AI Overviews information display along with clean on-screen element recognition and quick control bars. Finally, there’s the aforementioned “Gemini Deep Research on Pixel” feature. While it requires a Gemini Advanced subscription to use, being able to easily complete it on your phone—a feature that looks incredibly impressive and makes you think someone spent hours doing research—is truly an evolution that would have been hard to imagine in the past.

Everyone can look forward to the big AI leap coming to Pixel phones.
