“Your package delivery has encountered an issue. Please click the link to confirm your address.” Almost everyone has received text messages like this. With AI technology being widely adopted by fraud syndicates, the time needed to produce fake customer service scripts, counterfeit shopping websites, and scam text messages has shrunk dramatically, while the content has become far more realistic. This makes it increasingly difficult for the public to tell real messages from fake ones in everyday activities such as receiving packages and shopping online. According to the “Consumer Cybersecurity Report for the First Half of 2026” published by TrendLife™, Trend Micro’s consumer brand, impersonation (including posing as e-commerce customer service, logistics providers, government agencies, and financial institutions) and counterfeit shopping websites are currently the two most commonly detected types of fraud. Statistics from the National Police Agency also show that among the five most common fraud methods in Taiwan in 2026, online shopping fraud ranks second, trailing only fake investment scams. Moreover, online shopping fraud cases account for 39.4% of all fraud cases, ranking first.

Taiwan’s fraud situation: NT$200 million is still being scammed away every day
According to statistics from the “165 Anti-Fraud Dashboard,” since its launch in 2024, the national average number of fraud cases accepted per day has dropped from 573 to 461, a decline of about 20%; the average daily financial loss has also decreased from roughly NT$400 million. However, the overall figures remain alarming: in January 2026, fraud-related financial losses across Taiwan still totaled NT$7 billion, with an average of over NT$200 million being defrauded every day.
Although the overall number of fraud cases has declined, online shopping fraud has bucked the trend and surged by 80%. Statistics from the Criminal Investigation Bureau also show that in March 2026, the national daily average of fraud cases accepted was 460, with financial losses of approximately NT$160 million, of which online shopping fraud accounted for 39.4%, ranking first.
Trend Micro joins forces with 7-ELEVEN and Yahoo Shopping to launch the “Neighborhood Anti-Fraud Protection Season”
Given the continued rise in delivery and online shopping fraud, Trend Micro TrendLife™ has teamed up with 7-ELEVEN, which has over 7,300 stores across Taiwan, and e-commerce platform Yahoo Shopping to launch the “2026 Neighborhood Fraud Prevention Season.” With “Your neighborhood store, your friendly neighbor” as the core concept, the three parties each take on different roles to form three lines of defense against fraud:
- Anti-Fraud Outpost (7-ELEVEN)With over 7,300 stores across Taiwan integrated into people’s daily lives, they form the first line of defense against fraud right at the neighborhood corner.
- AI Anti-Fraud Engine (Trend Micro TrendLife™)Leverage AI technology and anti-fraud databases to instantly identify fraud risks in suspicious calls, text messages, and websites.
- Digital Anti-Fraud Awareness (Yahoo Shopping)Through site-wide awareness campaigns, member communications, and promotional activities, comprehensively enhance public awareness of fraud prevention.

Zhu Fangwei, Product Marketing Manager of Trend Micro’s Consumer Business Group TrendLife™, said: “Fraud groups often target not the least wary person, but the least guarded moment—a package notification or a customer service message can be the start of a breach. The most important significance of this event is to put the real-time judgment capability of the AI Anti-Fraud Expert into the hands of every consumer through the most familiar in-store and online shopping scenarios, so that fraud prevention is no longer just post-incident remedy, but before every click and order, there is an extra layer of real-time, accurate reminders and judgment.”
