Just last week, during a livestream, the hugely popular streamer Asmongold, Zack Hoyt, once again made some rather radical and controversial remarks about immigration, and as a result was suspended by Twitch for two weeks. Even so, he stressed that he currently has no intention of taking back what he said, while also revealing that he experienced a health scare during his suspension. And despite constantly courting controversy, Asmongold remains one of the most-followed streamers on Twitch.

Asmongold first gained popularity through World of Warcraft-related YouTube content, and began transitioning to Twitch streaming in 2014. By the start of 2025, the creator had gradually shifted his content focus from gaming to commentary on various political and current events. While this often sparked controversy, it also successfully attracted a massive audience, making him one of the most-watched streamers on Twitch and Kick, with cumulative viewership exceeding 20 million hours across both platforms.

During a recent livestream discussing Europe’s ongoing immigration crisis, the streamer argued that border police should mercilessly shoot illegal immigrants attempting to cross, even if they arrive with their families, and should not let them through just because of that. He also criticized these immigrants for often using women and children as shields to break into other countries, describing them as “barbarians and animals.” These remarks led to him being suspended from Twitch for the second time this year.
A few days later, Asmongold finally responded to this via a YouTube video. Although the creator admitted that his way of communicating with the audience on the related issue may have been a bit too aggressive, he still stood his ground, emphasizing that he had no intention of retracting these controversial remarks.

According to Asmongold, 40,000 to 60,000 immigrants crossed the border in a single day, causing many problems for European society. As a result, he believes he has no need to apologize for the remarks that led to his Twitch suspension, emphasizing that all of this is necessary deterrence to protect the nation’s borders. However, in subsequent streams, Asmongold also said he is willing to tone down his remarks and wording somewhat to avoid similar controversies from continuing to occur.
Additionally, Asmongold also revealed that during his Twitch suspension, he experienced some health issues, and the related symptoms reminded him of his late father. Although he stressed that he is currently in relatively good health, he still has some concerns about these problems. Given that Asmongold’s health and living environment have always been topics of great concern to his fans, how his health changes in the future remains to be seen.

Notably, Asmongold was also suspended by Twitch for a week this past April for making inflammatory remarks about Middle Eastern people, though the punishment was later shortened to three days. However, shortly after that suspension ended and he resumed streaming, Asmongold announced plans to take a temporary break.
Although some netizens with left-leaning views have consistently called on Twitch to permanently ban Asmongold, so far Twitch has not issued any official response to this incident. And if the current suspension period remains unchanged, Asmongold could return to Twitch as early as August 20th. Whether he will immediately resume streaming once the punishment ends is still unknown.
