ChatGPT is the only one among the world’s top ten websites with positive growth.
According to the data statistics website SimilarWeb, among the top 10 websites by global total visits in September 2025, the top five remain Google, YouTube, Facebook, IG, and ChatGPT. Among them, ChatGPT, ranked fifth, is the only domain showing positive growth, while Bing was surpassed by Wikipedia, dropping to 10th place.

The ranking of GenAI tools hasn’t changed much, but Gemini stands out in monthly growth rate.
According to SimilarWeb, the ranking of GenAI tools by web traffic is: ChatGPT (73.8%), Gemini (13.7%), DeepSeek (3.9%), Grok (2.0%), Perplexity (2.0%), Claude (1.8%), and Copilot (1.2%).
Among the top three, in terms of monthly growth rate, ChatGPT’s share declined by 13.3%, Gemini’s share increased by 4.6%, and DeepSeek’s share decreased by 0.1%. On a year-over-year basis, ChatGPT’s share declined by 4.3%, Gemini’s share increased by 6.1%, and DeepSeek had not yet appeared.

Looking at the September 2025 monthly growth rate of GenAI tools, ChatGPT’s September page views reached 5.904 billion, marking a third consecutive month of record-breaking growth, with an 88.98% year-over-year increase and a 0.98% month-over-month increase. Although ChatGPT’s website traffic growth has recently been sluggish, the launch of the new AI video generation model “Sora 2” and the AI short-video social app “Sora App” at the end of September has sparked considerable adoption momentum, which is expected to reignite web traffic growth in October!
Google Gemini website traffic has grown for 9 consecutive months and broke 1 billion visits for the first time (1.057 billion), with annual growth of 285.07% and monthly growth of 46.24%. The recent surge in Gemini website traffic is believed by outsiders to be related to the launch of the “Nano Banana” Gemini 2.5 Flash Image image editing model, and the popularity of Gemini mascots has attracted at least 10 million new Gemini users. In September 2025, the only platform with declining traffic was Grok, while Perplexity saw 14.35% monthly growth, and DeepSeek resumed monthly growth for the first time since February.

As various GenAI tools continue to develop new applications and roll out promotional offers, overall traffic across GenAI tools remains on a steady upward trend, with a diverse and flourishing competitive landscape. Who will ultimately prevail, or whether the losers will pivot to niche markets, still remains to be seen.

ChatGPT has high loyalty, Gemini is diverse, and the others will either eliminate each other or develop in niche markets.
However, amid the proliferation of GenAI tools, casual users will inevitably gravitate toward the most popular ones, so user loyalty to these tools will shape the trend in market share.
According to data analytics website SimilarWeb, ChatGPT still has by far the most loyal audience, with 82.2% of users never having visited other GenAI sites; Gemini follows closely at 49.1%, indicating a more diverse audience base; Grok (35.6%), Perplexity (33.1%), and Claude (18%) all show high overlap with competitors and less exclusive audiences, meaning that if they fail to launch surprising applications, they may gradually be phased out by users; DeepSeek, on the other hand, has the backing of China’s vast internet users within the wall, establishing its own unique position.
