OpenAI Finally launched a more affordable ChatGPT A new plan is out! Named “ChatGPT Go,” the price is directly cut to under NT$140 a month, about $4.55 USD. Compared to ChatGPT Plus at $20, it’s really much cheaper, and the included usage is quite sufficient for light users. However, for now it’s only available in India. The official has also hinted that they’ll decide whether to roll it out to other countries based on feedback. I’d say there’s a high chance they will.

ChatGPT Go launches new affordable plan, just 399 rupees per month (about NT$137).

Earlier, OpenAI Vice President and ChatGPT head Nick Turley announced on the X social platform the launch of a new “ChatGPT Go” plan in India.

Compared to the free version, ChatGPT Go offers 10 times the usage in messages, image generation, and file uploads, while also doubling memory capacity to make ChatGPT’s responses more personalized.

We just launched ChatGPT Go in India, a new subscription tier that gives users in India more access to our most popular features: 10x higher message limits, 10x more image generations, 10x more file uploads, and 2x longer memory compared with our free tier. All for Rs. 399. 🇮🇳

Turley added: “Making ChatGPT more affordable has been a major user request! We’ll first launch the Go plan in India, adjust based on user feedback, and then expand to other countries.”

This also means that although it is currently only available in India, it could potentially be launched in other countries later on.

ChatGPT Plus costs $20, and ChatGPT Go is 77.25% cheaper. The gap is unusually large—it’s even cheaper than the subscription fees for Netflix, Disney+, and Spotify, so everyone can afford it. Therefore, I speculate that it is very likely. Moreover, the ChatGPT Go plan pricing that someone abroad previously uncovered isn’t only for India; it also includes other countries’ currencies.

Software engineer Tibor Blaho previously discovered that the latest ChatGPT web app version added pricing of €4, $4, and £3.5 in addition to Indian Rupees (INR), though it is currently still hidden behind a feature flag.

The new ChatGPT Go plan now also has a "Try Go" call-to-action button on the ChatGPT dashboard and includes pricing in EUR (€4), USD ($4), and GBP (£3.50) in addition to INR in the latest ChatGPT web app build (although it's still hidden behind a feature flag) pic.twitter.com/EmfgZ5t69K

at OpenAI Support PageIt also explains what features are included with the ChatGPT Go plan, including:

  • Expanded GPT-5 Access: Enjoy more usage of our flagship model.
  • Expand image generation: create more images for work or entertainment.
  • Extended file upload: can analyze and process more documents, spreadsheets, and other files.
  • Expand advanced data analysis: use tools like Python more frequently for data exploration and problem solving.
  • Longer memory for more personalized responses: maintain conversational coherence within a larger context window.
  • Access projects, tasks, and custom GPTs: organize work more flexibly, track progress, and build personalized AI tools.

The main differences compared to ChatGPT Plus are that Plus users get more thinking capabilities and access to older models (such as GPT-4o), as well as advanced tools like Deep Research, Agent mode, and Sora video creation. The Connectors feature is currently only available to ChatGPT Plus plans and above.
