The application “Health Insurance Mobile APP” developed by the Central Health Insurance Agency has recently added a variety of medical information to the “Medical Treatment Overview” function of the “Health Passbook Trial Edition”, including “Medical Radiation Dose” information that allows you to see the medical radiation dose of personal radiography examinations in the current year.

The first time you use the “Health Insurance Auto-Access Mobile APP” you must first complete the “Mobile Device Authentication”. Those who have completed the authentication can click on the APP to log in and use it.

You can see the “Health Passbook Early Access Version” function on the homepage of the APP.

After clicking in, you can see two pieces of information: “COVID-19 Vaccination/Virus Test Results” and “Medical Treatment Overview”. “COVID-19 Vaccination/Virus Test Results” can search for COVID-19 rapid screening and other information.

“Medical Treatment Overview” allows you to see your own medical treatment and medication records, including “Medical Radiation Dose” information that allows you to see the medical radiation dose of your personal radiographic examination that year.

According to the Central Health Insurance Agency of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, when people go to hospitals for radiological examinations, they will receive different doses of radiation. As long as the human body receives radiation, no matter what the dose, there is a chance of causing cancer and bad inheritance. There is no lower limit dose value, and the chance of causing cancer or bad inheritance is directly proportional to the dose received (linear relationship). The higher the dose, the greater the chance of suffering from the disease.

In order to let the public know the radiation dose of individuals undergoing radiological examinations in the hospital, the health passbook refers to the medical radiation dose data for various examinations at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and the public information on the Radiology Department website of the Military General Hospital – Radiological Diagnosis Safety Questions and Answers (computed tomography radiation dose of each part), calculates the radiation reference dose for individuals undergoing radiological examinations, and provides the public with medical radiation dose reference values.

Although the “Medical Radiation Dose” information in the “Health Passbook Trial Edition” does not contain information such as the type of radiological examination equipment used in medical institutions, the area of radiation exposure, etc., it is a reference value for medical radiation dose. However, it gives the public an idea. However, do not refuse to accept radiological examinations because radiation poses a health threat to people. If you have any doubts about the examination arrangements, you can still communicate with the doctor for clarification.
