After 13 years of waiting, there are now only a little over 2 months left until the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. Unfortunately, just like with Rockstar Games’ previous titles, players holding out for the PC version may have to wait a while longer. However, according to recent rumors, it seems this time around the wait might not be too long.
In the latest podcast episode, VGC journalist Andy Robinson stated that he believes Rockstar and parent company Take-Two are likely to accelerate the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 on PC, and the main reason behind this change can be attributed to the continuously rising prices of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.
Take, for example, the case of Rockstar’s recent heavyweight title Red Dead Redemption 2. Although it launched only on consoles in late October 2018, it arrived on PC in early November 2019. If this latest news is accurate, it means players might get a chance to see Grand Theft Auto 6 release on PC in mid-2027.
Even though VGC has indeed frequently leaked accurate industry news in the past, the exact release timing for Grand Theft Auto 6 on PC remains to be seen. However, from a financial perspective, it’s a fairly reasonable move. After all, many players who haven’t purchased current-generation consoles still own fairly capable PCs, and with technologies like NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR, GTA 6 could potentially run well even on some older machines.
In addition, although many players believe that Rockstar Games and Take-Two may intend to align the PC release of Grand Theft Auto 6 with the launch of the new GTA Online, according to another rumor, the new GTA Online may still take a while to arrive, potentially even later than the PC version.

This means the new version of GTA Online may not arrive until as late as the end of 2028, though official confirmation is still pending.
