Xiaomi Taiwan officially launched the REDMI Note 17 Series, continuing the rugged durability DNA of the “Little King Kong” lineup with two new mid-range devices: the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G and the REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G. The Pro Max model features a massive 9210mAh silicon-carbon battery, setting a new record for the largest battery capacity in any smartphone in Taiwan, and comes with comprehensive durability specs including 3-meter drop resistance, IP68 water protection, and 6 years of security updates, making it one of the most competitive phones in its price segment.

The REDMI Note series has long been known in the Taiwan market for its high value for money and durability. With the Note 17 generation, the lineup sets new series highs in both battery capacity and protection specs, directly targeting practical users who prioritize battery life and durability. Xiaomi has also launched entry-level models such as the REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17, priced from NT$7,999 and NT$6,999 respectively, fully covering a wide range of price points.

REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 9210mAh arrives as the phone with the largest battery capacity in Taiwan.

The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G is equipped with a 9210mAh silicon-carbon battery, making it currently the smartphone with the largest battery capacity in Taiwan. Xiaomi says that after a full charge, daily use can last up to 3 days, video playback up to 37 hours, gaming up to 19 hours, and recording up to 13 hours. Whether you’re out for a long time or into heavy entertainment, you can leave battery anxiety behind. It can even use Type-C to reverse charge other devices.

In terms of charging, the Pro Max model supports 100W HyperCharge extreme fast charging, delivering a full day’s usage with just a 20-minute charge, and supports 27W wired reverse charging, allowing it to temporarily serve as a power bank to top up other devices. The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G is equipped with an 8340mAh silicon-carbon battery, offering over 2 days of battery life, paired with 67W HyperCharge fast charging that can reach 50% in as fast as 34 minutes. Both new phones have passed TÜV SÜD’s five-star battery performance certification, and the smart battery management system can help maintain at least 80% of the battery’s capacity after approximately 6 years of daily use.

3-meter drop resistance × IP68 waterproofing, the Little Tough Guy’s durability gets an upgrade

The REDMI Note 17 Series carries on the durability DNA of the “Little Tough Guy” signature. Both Pro models feature Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, paired with a newly upgraded internal structure, allowing them to withstand drops of up to 3 meters onto smooth granite under SGS standard test conditions. They have earned the SGS Gold Standard Five-Star Certification for whole-device high-strength protection and the TÜV SÜD Five-Star Drop Resistance Certification.

For water resistance, both new models support IP68 dust and water resistance, having passed static fresh water immersion tests at depths of up to 2 meters for up to 30 minutes, as well as TÜV SÜD five-star water resistance certification. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G also introduces underwater camera functionality for the first time, paired with wet-hand touch 2.0 technology, ensuring precise touch response even when hands are wet or greasy. Upgrades span from internal structure to overall body protection.

6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display, offering both eye protection and excellent visuals

Both new models feature a 6.83-inch 1.5K CrystalRes AMOLED display with a peak brightness of 3500 nits, ensuring clear visibility even under strong outdoor light. The screen supports 3840Hz PWM dimming and Xiaomi Vision Care eye protection mode, and has passed TÜV Rheinland’s triple eye-care certification (low blue light, flicker-free, and circadian-friendly), delivering a more comfortable viewing experience for extended streaming, social media scrolling, or reading.

The Pro Max model further adopts a photochromic back cover design in the Color-Changing Orange variant. Under sunlight, the device transitions from cloud white to a warm pink-orange, allowing the phone to display different visual effects depending on ambient light, adding more personal style and recognizability.

Snapdragon processor paired with HyperOS 3, 6 years of security updates

REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G is powered by a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 processor (4nm process) and supports memory expansion up to 24GB RAM, meeting multitasking and daily gaming needs. The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G, on the other hand, is equipped with a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 processor (4nm process), striking a balance between performance and power consumption. The entire series runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and integrates AI features such as Google Gemini and Google Circle to Search, making search, creation, and everyday operations more intuitive.

In terms of software support, Xiaomi is now offering up to 6 years of security updates, ensuring devices remain secure and continuously updated even after years of use. For mid-range phone users who value long-term durability, this is a significant plus.

Image Specifications and AI Creation Tools

Both new phones feature a 50MP main camera (the Pro Max version includes OIS optical image stabilization and an f/1.5 large aperture) and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, with the Pro Max additionally sporting a 32MP front camera. Xiaomi has enhanced its natural portrait algorithm and flagship-level Live Moment feature, delivering natural skin tones and rich portrait detail.
