New Jailbreak Tool Relaxin Lite for iOS Devices: Just Open a Webpage to Jailbreak

Recently, iOS jailbreak developer 82Flex showcased a new jailbreak video on X: an iPhone 15 Pro Max opens Safari, visits a webpage, and a few seconds later the device restarts—jailbreak complete. No computer needed, no sideloading an IPA or any extra steps. This experimental tool is called Relaxin Lite, a browser-based version of the iOS 17 jailbreak tool Relaxin. Its arrival is bringing the jailbreak community back to the era 15 years ago when “just opening a webpage was enough to jailbreak.”

What is JailbreakMe? The jailbreak era of 2010

For younger Apple fans, you might not know what “jailbreaking” was for. Early iOS was quite closed off, and many features could only be described as bare-bones. So a lot of things we now take for granted had to be done through jailbreaking back then (the most common use was call recording). But as iOS updates rolled out and Apple kept “borrowing” unique features from Android and the jailbreak community, there’s basically no need to jailbreak anymore (these days, jailbreaking is mostly only used for playing around with virtual machines). Plus, iOS vulnerabilities have become fewer and fewer, which is why almost no one bothers with jailbreaking now (Editor’s note: we also don’t recommend jailbreaking for the average person, since it poses security risks).

However, 2010 to 2011 was the golden age of iOS jailbreaking. During that time, a genius hacker using the alias Comex (real name Nicholas Allegra) developed the JailbreakMe series of tools, allowing users to complete a jailbreak by simply entering a URL in the Safari browser and clicking a few times. JailbreakMe 2.0 exploited a PDF vulnerability in the FreeType font parser, while version 3.0 once again leveraged a PDF font vulnerability, with over 2 million devices jailbroken through this method cumulatively.

Comex was eventually brought into Apple as an intern, and JailbreakMe became history from then on. As Apple continued to strengthen iOS security mechanisms—code signing, sandboxing, Pointer Authentication Code (PAC), and Page Protection Layer (PPL)—browser-based jailbreaking has become nearly impossible over the past decade or so. Jailbreak tools gradually shifted toward sideloading IPA files and installing via a computer, with the most notable being Dopamine (developed by opa334) and palera1n. That was until Relaxin Lite appeared.

Relaxin: iOS 17 Jailbreak Breakthrough

Relaxin is an iOS jailbreak tool developed by OwnGoal Studio and led by 82Flex, built on the roothide architecture (a semi-untethered jailbreak similar to Dopamine). The official release supports iOS 16.5.1 through 17.3.1, covering devices with A12 to A17 chips as well as M1 and M2.

The development timeline of Relaxin is as follows:

  • July 23, 202682Flex first demonstrates a jailbreak completed in 10 seconds on iPhone 15 Pro Max (iOS 17.1.1), using a combination of Gruber KRW + backboardd GPU reset + Rocket exploits, with a success rate of nearly 100%.
  • July 27, 2026Entering closed beta.
  • July 28, 2026The AI tool restored Coruna’s support for A14/M1 devices within 3 hours, expanding the compatibility range.
  • August 2, 2026opa334’s Crane plugin works normally on Relaxin, and the multi-container push notification issue has been fixed.
  • August 3, 2026Officially announcing support for the full range of A12-A17 and M1-M2 devices.
  • Starting August 5, 2026The public beta has been released, and the community has begun large-scale installation testing.

Relaxin Lite’s Secret Weapon: The Coruna Vulnerability Chain

The key to Relaxin Lite’s ability to execute a jailbreak directly from Safari lies in its use of the Coruna browser exploit chain. And the story of Coruna itself is one of the most dramatic events in the cybersecurity world of 2026. Coruna is an iOS exploit toolkit containing 5 complete attack chains and 23 individual vulnerabilities, covering iOS 13.0 through 17.2.1. It was originally part of commercial spyware, developed by a surveillance company for monitoring specific targets. In March 2026, Google’s Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) publicly exposed the existence of this toolkit.

政府級 iOS 漏洞工具「Coruna」外洩,逾 4.2 萬部舊 iPhone 遭入侵:Apple 緊急釋出安全性更新

According to Google’s investigation, Coruna has been circulating among multiple threat actors since February 2025: it leaked from a commercial surveillance company, was used by a suspected Russian hacker group to target visitors of Ukrainian websites, and ultimately ended up in the hands of a China-based criminal gang, where it was used to steal cryptocurrency wallets. iVerify researchers described this as “one of the most notable cases we have observed: sophisticated spyware capabilities spreading from a commercial surveillance vendor to state-level actors, and ultimately into the hands of large-scale criminal operations.”

In March 2026, the code for the Coruna exploit toolkit was leaked and uploaded to GitHub, prompting security researchers and the jailbreak community to analyze and modify these exploits. These tools, originally designed for surveillance and attacks, were repurposed into resources for jailbreak development. The 82Flex team leveraged the WebKit RCE (Remote Code Execution) exploit chain from Coruna, combined with PAC bypass techniques, to create a jailbreak flow that can be triggered directly from Safari.

Some vulnerabilities in the Coruna toolkit share the same zero-day exploits used in the Operation Triangulation campaign that Kaspersky exposed in 2023. The Russian government accused Operation Triangulation of being carried out by the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) to spy on thousands of iPhones within Russia.

From spy tool to liberation tool: the dark humor of the jailbreak community

Coruna was originally designed as spyware to monitor phone users, but after being exposed and leaked, it became jailbreak infrastructure that lets users take back control of their devices. 82Flex said on X, “We use battle-tested AI tools to verify post-jailbreak stability,” and emphasized that “none of this would exist without opa334’s years of dedication to Dopamine.”

We use a battle-tested AI harness to validate post-jailbreak stability, so there’s no reason to distrust an AI-written jailbreak. Software is changing fast. The community’s reaction to Relaxin has been quite positive. Crane (a multi-account container tweak developed by opa334) is already working perfectly on Relaxin, and popular tweaks such as Dotto++, Touch-Viz, and MilkyWayReborn have also announced support one after another. The jailbreak community security account @onejailbreak_ continues to track and report on compatibility progress, and AppEnumGuard even patched the security issue of CVE-2025-31207 in the Coruna exploit toolkit.

Relaxin Lite Limitations and Current Status

Relaxin Lite is currently still experimental and has not been publicly released. Several important limitations:

  • Version restrictionThe Coruna browser exploit chain currently only covers iOS 17.0 to 17.2.x on arm64e devices. iOS 17.3 and above requires DarkSword (supports up to 17.3.1, but is slower).
  • Stability: The WebKit phase may require multiple attempts to succeed.
  • Semi-unbindingAfter restarting, the jailbreak process needs to be run again.
  • Source code:Expected to be made public at the end of August.

82Flex also demonstrated a process for completing a traditional IPA installation-style jailbreak on the iPhone 15 Pro Max in 10 seconds, using a vulnerability combination of Gruber KRW + backboardd GPU reset + Rocket, with a success rate close to 100%.

Currently, the official version of Relaxin (IPA installation method) has entered public testing, supporting iOS 16.5.1 to 17.3.1, A12 to A17, and M1/M2 devices. As for when Relaxin Lite will publicly offer Safari browser jailbreak, 82Flex has not yet given a clear timeline.
