Recently, NVIDIA’s partners announced the comparison object of the GTX 1630. This one is only similar to the GTX 1050 Ti launched 6 years ago. It is really confusing what NVIDIA is doing this time.
GTX 1630 performance is exactly the same as the GTX 1050 Ti launched 6 years ago
Recently, NVIDIA partner Inno3DChinese WeiboSharing the official test data of GTX 1630, although the text reads “New power for entry-level games! Inzo GTX1630 graphics card hand-released, faster performance, lower power consumption, more applications, plug-and-play without external power supply”, but the object of this faster performance comparison is the GTX 1050 series launched 6 years ago, not the entry-level graphics card launched last year or this year.
A total of 12 games were tested in this chart. The comparison objects of GTX 1630 are GTX 1050 Ti and GTX 1050. The performance of GTX 1630 and GTX 1050 Ti can be said to be almost the same. In some games, GTX 1630 is a little ahead, and in others, GTX 1050 Ti is better. Compared with GTX 1050, the overall performance is improved by about 17%. What makes people wonder is that the colors used in this picture are too close, making it difficult to compare:
So it’s clear that NVIDIA is launching the GTX 1630 to replace the GTX 1050 Ti. The GTX 1050 Ti was released in 2016 and was based on NVIDIA’s Pascal architecture. The recommended price at the time was $139.
Although the performance is the same, other technical aspects have been improved. For example, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1630 supports VP8 and H.265 (HVEC) codecs, which is not available in the Pascal series. NVIDIA’s new GTX 1630 features the TU117-150 GPU, a Turing-based architecture with 512 CUDA cores.
The current known prices of NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1630 are 199 US dollars (EVGA) and 169 US dollars (Colortic), so they are more expensive than the GTX 1050 Ti. Whether players are willing to pay a little more to buy a graphics card with the same level of performance is another matter.
I personally speculate that this card may not sell very well. On the one hand, graphics cards have been falling in price. Not only are brand-new graphics cards sometimes sold for less than the recommended selling price,The second-hand market dropped by 50%（But please don’t buy mining cards), it feels very uneconomical to buy this graphics card with the same performance as 6 years ago, and don’t forget, AMD Radeon RX 6400 only costs 159 US dollars… and AMD has also fallen a lot recently, so maybe you can still buy this card at a lower price now.
