Speaking of Google’s classic messaging service, which one comes to mind: GTalk (Google Talk) or Hangouts? I believe that in terms of functions and cross-platform smartphone system support, the latter will be more impressive to everyone, right? It’s a pity that no matter which one is confirmed, it is already a historical term, because Hangouts, which was predicted to fade out of retirement, has also been confirmed recently.formal farewell day. Although Google Chat’s “presence” is really not as good as the company’s previous messaging services (it should be even less heard of than Google Meet, right?). However, this still cannot stop them from promoting the strategy of integrating and terminating their services – yes, continuingThe Android Auto experience on your phone screen is officially over. Google then announced that its popular Hangouts service would end in November this year.

In fact, the news that Hangouts will be discontinued was actually announced two years ago, and it will be integrated with Google Chat – speaking of it, Google has given it a lot of respect. It’s just that for ordinary users like you and me, it’s probably really hard to understand the purpose of turning it off and on again and then bothering users to move. Otherwise, Google has a large number of Android users, and its sincerity across iOS, desktop systems, etc. is enough. If the service continues, I believe that Google will definitely dominate the communications field with its efforts so far, right?

Since the launch of Duo and Allo, Google has been trying to use separate services for video and messaging to provide users with corresponding needs. Google Chat and Google Meet should be considered as successor services provided by the company. The only problem is that the related transfer and shutdown measures of Hangouts and Allo/Duo are still a bit difficult to understand.

Previously, Meet forcibly replaced the video-related functions of Hangouts, and the subsequent Duo was also integrated into this service; the smart chat application Allo died quite suddenly (QQ). And finally, it is confirmed that the remaining messaging functions and chat data of Hangouts will be received by Google Chat. And it is confirmed that the Hangouts service will be extended until November – the web version of Gmail will prompt such closure information at least a month ago.

That is to say, anyway, Google Chat can perfectly inherit the relevant data of Hangouts “if everything is fine in theory”. If you don’t feel comfortable continuing to use it, you can also use the Takeout function to package and download it back to your computer for storage. In fact, it is not a big problem for users to move to Google Chat / Google Meet that unifies everything – the bigger question is probably how long this state can last…

No matter how much you like the messaging/video experience Google provides. I believe that many people will inevitably feel that after these “integrations”, it is more practical to switch to other services that are relatively stable and do not require constant moving.
