The “Stalking Law”, which was officially implemented on June 1, is clearly related to sex and gender. It targets specific people for repeated or continuous “surveillance and observation, following and approaching, sending items, fraudulent use of personal information, improper pursuit, reputation jeopardy, communication harassment, discrimination and derogation”, etc. 8 Categories of behavior that are against one’s will and make people fearful may violate the law. Stalking and harassment are punishable by a prison term of not more than 1 year and a fine of not more than NT$100,000. If a person is carrying a weapon, the prison term will be increased and the person may be sentenced to a fixed-term imprisonment of not more than 5 years.
And if they encounter stalking and harassment that complies with the “Stalking Law”, the victim can call the police through 110 and other help methods, and a criminal investigation and written warning will be carried out at the same time.

With the official launch of the “Stalking Law”, there is a legal basis to deter harassment that is against one’s will and frightens people.
