Computex 2022 will be held this month. I believe many people want to know what new products will be launched by major technology manufacturers. AMD is scheduled to launch a new processor based on the Zen 4 architecture this year. This time the new processor will be called the Ryzen 7000 series. In addition to architectural changes, I believe the biggest difference is the built-in display chip. Interestingly, a record left by a suspected Ryzen 7000 engineering sample was recently discovered in the Openbenchmarking database. Based on this record, the specifications of the new processor can be roughly seen. Although this information cannot be officially recognized at this stage, AMD’s press conference in the near future will definitely bring relevant information about the new processor. Perhaps then we can confirm whether the rumors are true.

Ryzen 7000 series processors are currently recognized as the name of AMD’s next-generation desktop processors, which are somewhat different from laptop processors. After all, the current model of laptops is named Ryzen 6000 series, and the architecture also belongs to the Zen 3+ architecture, which is fundamentally different from the next-generation desktop processors based on the Zen 4 architecture. The development codename of the Ryzen 7000 series is Raphael. In addition to being designed based on the new architecture, it is also the first generation of processors currently known to use AMD’s new socket.

The Raphael processor is currently found on the Openbenchmarking database. Although the specific model is unknown, it is basically certainly a new processor from AMD. According to the login information, the processor has 8 Zen 4 architecture cores and a clock speed of up to 5.2 GHz. The most eye-catching thing is that the GPU chip it integrates is RDNA 2 architecture and has a clock speed of 2.0 GHz.

In addition to these specifications, the key to identifying it as a Ryzen 7000 processor lies in the motherboard chipset and OPN code. Curiously, the motherboard section reads AMD Splinter-RPL (WS22427N000 BIOS), where the abbreviation RPL clearly refers to Raphael. The OPL code part is 100-000000666-20_Y. Coincidentally, this matches the AMD new processor data previously found in the MilkyWay@Home database, so it can almost be proven that it is an engineering sample of the AMD Ryzen 7000 series.

In addition to the processor information, other specifications of some peripheral components are also exposed. For example, the system memory has 16GB. If the platform is indeed AMD Ryzen 7000, which is the AM5 platform, then the memory specifications must be DDR5.

As for the display chip, the model number registered in the database is AMD GFX1036 512MB. Obviously, the final name of this model cannot be determined yet. However, the clock shown on the back is eye-catching. According to the login information, the GPU has a 2GHz clock. In addition, it is currently rumored that AMD Raphael’s internal display architecture is RDNA 2. It may be predicted that it will have a certain level of basic performance, allowing users to easily play 3A masterpieces with low resolution and low special effects.

It is rumored that AMD Raphael’s internal graphics chip may be equipped with 2 to 4 CUs, in other words 1 to 2 WGPs. The model number registered in the database also includes a 512MB string, which may mean that the display chip will use up to 512 MB of display memory. At present, in addition to using Raphael in desktop processors, AMD will also launch processors for laptops. Although the laptop version will be renamed Dragon Range, the chip design may be very similar. This situation is similar to Intel’s Alder Lake-S and Alder Lake-HX. In other words, there is a high chance that Dragon Range will use the same internal display as Raphael.
