NotebookLM’s AI two-host Podcasts audio overview may arrive on Android via the Gemini app

Learn about it in the article. Otherwise, you’ll really miss out on an extremely useful new tool in this wave of generative AI.
And if you know how much NotebookLM can help with productivity – like organizing papers, transcripts, or even reading through dense documentation – it can help you process all this material (though there is a limit on the number of sources).
And the key point is that NotebookLM also lets you intuitively restrict the sources it pulls from—it doesn’t (usually) go off on a wild tangent looking for random information, which is already a rare quality for AI services that occasionally hallucinate and spout nonsense with a straight face. Especially since it’s also a free service.

Now it looks like Google also intends to extend NotebookLM’s well-received features further into the mobile app platform (well… although you could already use it via the mobile web version anyway). Foreign media spotted that in the v15.48.33.sa.arm64 beta version of the Google app, a “Generate audio overview” feature has been added.
Adding to that, the code also contains the string “create_podcast_prompt_query.” Because of this, foreign media see this as evidence of a quietly added feature, suggesting that Google will bring NotebookLM’s ability to easily help users generate two-person AI podcast audio through Gemini AI, with further support on the Android system.

Unfortunately, when Android Authority tried uploading a PDF file directly into a Gemini chat, although a floating “Generate audio overview” button appeared at the top of the conversation, in practice it only provided a text summary of the PDF – eh… actually, I think being able to generate a text summary on Android is pretty great too.
In short, although this feature is still not fully operational, the fact that it can already be initially presented in the interface suggests that the likelihood of Google actually preparing to release this feature should be quite high, right?
This also means that, in the future, when you encounter documents that are hard to understand right away or that you don’t have time to read through slowly, you should be able to directly use the Audio Overviews technology generated by NotebookLM, and with Gemini AI on Android, quickly have it explain them to you in audio (thumbs up).
