If you ask me why I want to subscribe to YouTube Premium? Seriously speaking, the ad-free and Picture-in-Picture functions should be equally important “unlocking functions” for me. However, the latter is available as an experimental feature in the YouTube app for iOS. Recently, it has been removed from the experimental function – simply put, users who jump to iOS later may not be able to activate this function for the time being (I believe that for these people, it is really two words “crying”). Continue reading YouTube has removed the PiP picture-in-picture experimental feature on iOS, and new users are temporarily unable to “enable” the report.
iOS 版 YouTube PiP 子母畫面被閹

YouTube has removed the PiP picture-in-picture experimental feature on iOS, and new users cannot “enable” it for the time being.

Although my personal guess is that this should be just a little “transition period” between experimental functions and official version functions. But I believe that for many users who like it and choose to pay for YouTube subscription. If you happen to jump from another system to iOS in the past few days, but find that there is no PiP picture-in-picture function to enable, it should be quite troublesome – I won’t give it a moment in advance. Android 12 updates the floating window function, which arouses users’ “hate”. Google really needs to be careful (laughs).

Figure: iOS now only has one experimental feature left

To put it simply, in the past few days, some people have discovered that the floating video playback function that the YouTube app launched for subscribers on iOS a few months ago was suddenly removed from the experimental function. Then I went back and found out that this feature is actually still in the testing stage, and in YouTube.com/New Among the experimental functions, it is now confirmed that the “picture-in-picture function for iOS devices” previously included in it has officially disappeared.

It’s not sure whether this feature is about to be turned into an official version, or whether after official testing, it really felt that it was not suitable for users and decided not to use it for new users. But when we look back at the end of August last yearTrial teaching from our Computer King Ada team, YouTube clearly stated that the trial of the picture-in-picture feature on YouTube iOS devices will end on October 31, 2021.

To put it simply, if we just look at it this way, YouTube has actually been kind enough to let us use it for a longer time (eh).

According to foreign media information, this function actuallyFor existing users who have activated this experimental feature, they can still use it normally.(This is currently the case). But it’s as sudden as watching the “expiration date” keep being extended and it feels like it should always exist but is suddenly removed. If existing users really encounter that picture-in-picture support is turned off, it really seems that this possibility cannot be ruled out – although it should be minimal (should…).

Let’s just hope this is just a transitional period as YouTube prepares to officially move this feature out of trial and into production (fingers crossed).
