According to foreign media reports, xAI—launched by Elon Musk, who has voiced concerns about the rapid development of AI—will likely release a dedicated app for its Grok chatbot, which includes features such as image generation. Grok AI, reportedly as edgy as Elon Musk himself, is set to launch a dedicated app.
Although the main focus is on users of the relatively less popular social service X (formerly Twitter) in Taiwan – and it even requires an X Premium subscription – so the number of users seems pathetically small (even on that platform, only about 0.26% of users).
However, in the initial trial by the 電腦王阿達 team, this Grok AI launched by xAI has surprisingly good understanding of Chinese commands. Now it seems it may be trying to break out of X’s echo chamber and engage directly with other AI services on a more open platform. Shootout Competition. Or perhaps there is consideration of the possibility of adopting something like Apple Intelligence — extended applications that can integrate third-party AI services — to greatly increase Grok AI’s visibility.

Because it’s hard to say whether Elon Musk simply hopes to promote X by developing such a service, or will continue to insist on a strategy that requires a dedicated account.
Therefore, many media outlets are curious whether, if launched as a standalone app in the future, Grok AI will still require an X account, or even allow free access and other freedoms.
Furthermore, if xAI is hoping to have a chance to integrate into Apple Intelligence, then in the future, if it gets technically blocked by Apple due to its overly open approach and integration keeps getting delayed, it’s anyone’s guess whether Elon Musk will start complaining about all sorts of things again.
