Although there should be quite a lot of users in Taiwan, they start from the YouTube service and consider whether to pay for a subscription to “remove advertising”. However, there are many foreign audio and video subscription services, including Paramount+, Peacock and Hulu, which already provide the option to watch audio and video content with advertising interspersed, thereby obtaining a certain degree of subscription price reduction.
According to foreign media reports, the Disney+ audio-visual subscription service has more than 100 million subscribers, including powerful masterpiece series such as Disney, Pixar, Marvel series, and Star Wars. It seems that it is considering adding a cheaper subscription plan with advertising content in the United States. Speaking of which, the current subscription price of Disney+ in the United States is about US$8, which is about US$3 less than the monthly fee of other subscription services that require viewing of advertisements. As for Disney’s own Hulu, it also offers an ad-supported video subscription price of $7; without ads, it is $12.
Foreign media speculated that it would be based on this pricing method. The Disney+ monthly fee, which has increased slightly since its launch, may also increase the existing subscription price accordingly for the advertising version of the subscription plan.
Currently, the monthly fee in Taiwan remains at NT$270 per month/NT$2,790 per year. There is also no news about the introduction of cheaper advertising solutions. However, as Disney+ actively expands its content, starting from the initial endless stream of entertainment audio and video content under the six iconic brands of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic and Star. Now there are not only more original contents, but also more recent Korean entertainment content.
It is announced that in the next few months, viewers will be able to enjoy the thriller TV series “Bad Lawyer” starring Lee Jong Suk and Yoona; the musical romance series “Unrequited Love Soundtrack” composed by two close friends who are wandering between love and friendship; the romantic comedy “Crazy in Love with You” with novel and novel themes; and the variety show “Korean Star Zone: Escape Mission” where many Korean stars gather to challenge the escape room game. It also promises to continue to provide more Korean film and television content in 2022 and release more than 20 film and television works, at least 12 of which are original.
It has to be said that while actively challenging other audio and video subscription platforms, it would not be too surprising if there were indeed price adjustments. But in this year when everything is going up, I still think it’s best not to increase it as long as there is a cheaper plan (eh) if possible.
