As smartphones and tablets gradually occupy modern people’s entertainment life, the average person may spend more time “in front of the computer” for a work state that is relatively undisturbed and focused – even when playing computer games, they probably don’t want to be distracted by too many notifications. As Google begins to provide a new interface for its e-mail service Gmail, it will remove the old and introduce the new.

After trying out the latest Gmail interface, foreign media 9to5Google discovered a new “Pause mobile notifications while you’re using this device” setting window. As you can see from the description, if you allow this option (select “Continue”), Gmail’s mobile notification service will detect whether you are in use or away from your current computer device when browsing.
Then the browser permission will be triggered to ask whether to allow “know when you’re actively using this device”. That is, it will use the status of Gmail in the browser to determine whether you are using this computer device.
According to reports, such a feature is likely to provide a more proactive way to avoid receiving annoying notifications on mobile devices when you are already using the desktop version of Gmail. That is to say, this function is actually in the Slack service that is more focused on work, and there is an option that can be set specifically in the desktop version of the application to not send notifications on the mobile device when using the desktop application. But seeing that Google can pay more attention to a more considerate experience of work/study, I believe users will be very happy.
At this stage, Google is not only building new interfaces and functions for its signature e-mail service Gmail, both internally and externally, but is also testing it intensively.
