Starting from a lower-level system experience, we create an Android L system that includes a folding screen scenario and a large-screen experience. It is regarded by many as an outpost of related specifications and experiences that the legendary Pixel Fold folding machine may bring – for example, it has been previously discovered that it may be equipped with camera specifications and lenses that may be used in different folding states (it must be said that many experts are really good at digging!).
The newly launched Android 12L Beta 3 this time further allows us to feel the new experience that Google may bring to such a new mobile phone screen.
First of all, the user experience corresponding to the folding screen will have various changes in “big and sometimes small” and “wide and narrow”. Android 12L previously provided a dual-column notification page. In terms of desktop arrangement options, this test version adds a 6×5 higher density option in addition to 5×5, 4×4, 4×5, 3×3 and 2×2 – which also means that with the support of a larger screen, about 30 spaces will be available to allow apps or widgets to make full use of layout options.
It should be noted that this option may not be available on the models that can currently be installed and tested – but it was still dug out XD.
Another change discovered in this test version focuses on the fingerprint unlocking interface. Foreign media Android Police discovered that Google has gradually begun to bring a different UI design to this system from the general Android 12. For example, when using the screen fingerprint to unlock, you can find that the animation of Android 12L becomes a bit like a black smoke screen that suddenly disperses.
Different animations are also applied when the application is launched – compared with the previous application launch screen that slid in from the bottom, Android 12L Beta 3 saves a lot of time and the overall feeling is cleaner.
The Android L system, which is expected to undergo 4 beta tests, has a Dock toolbar at the bottom of the screen that can be easily dragged to activate the multi-tasking screen compared to the Android version with ordinary mobile phone screens. It also allows all apps to support the split screen function. When it detects that the screen exceeds a certain range, the system will also actively change the interfaces including notifications, quick settings, lock screen, desktop, etc. to a state that utilizes the screen range more deeply – for example, the small pull-down menu will become a state where notification and control functions are divided into two columns.
As the test gradually comes to an end, I wonder if there will be more interesting features in Beta 4 before its official launch?
