Although I saw the verification letter for HBO MAX account application with “Verify Your Email Address”, I thought it would be okay to ignore it – on the one hand, I was afraid it was a phishing letter, and on the other hand, I felt that it would not become an official account without confirmation. But because I later received a letter that the Profile setting of the HBO MAX service was completed, I felt that I should deal with this Christmas gift properly – yes, it was really messy to come to me on Christmas!
Anyway, as mentioned before, because I don’t want to click on any content or links in that most likely malicious phishing email. So I just ran there HBO MAX official websiteTry to handle the account. However, I keep being directed to the region-locked page “Sorry, HBO MAX isn’t available in your region yet.”
If you use a free VPN, you may also see an error message calling customer service because the domain is suspected to be blocked. In addition, the HBO GO service and HBO MAX that have been launched in Taiwan, as far as I have tried, the accounts are currently not interoperable (I cannot log in to the mailbox that I have applied for).

But when encountering this kind of bad thing caused by the service provider mechanism, I feel that if it can be solved completely free of charge, I don’t want to waste the trial opportunities of other services; the trial opportunities or discounts of HBO MAX may be used by others, but the official ignored my complaints in the customer service mailbox – if it is in Taiwan, I am already mentally prepared that I will not be able to try it out.
My final solution was to first log in with a US Apple ID and download the HBO MAX app. Finally, I used NinjaVPN, which is “free to watch ads”, and selected Forgot Password Reset from the official App login interface to retrieve my account. What followed was a message that the payment method was invalid and asked me to renew it – it seems that the person who “borrowed” my account must have discovered that something was wrong and couldn’t use it, so he contacted the card-issuing bank, or perhaps the registered payment information was fake.

In fact, I wrote this article very helplessly. I didn’t expect HBO MAX’s account verification mechanism, although it seems that you need to click the link in the mailbox within 7 days to complete the registration. But it is suspected that because applicants have registered payment information, they can directly start using HBO MAX services – Special statement: These individuals only try to see the page for registering payment methods during the account application step, so it is not sure whether the account that has not completed the complete registration will be canceled within a certain period of time.
However, after taking back the account (the other party should have discovered it), I received a letter that there was a problem with the payment method. It probably confirmed that when the other party could not log in to the account, they contacted the card-issuing bank to cancel the authorization – I only took back the account and changed the password, and did not log in normally to confirm the information. After all, you can’t see a lot of things in the locked zone, so you don’t bother to dig into it – otherwise, if you connect to a paid VPN, you should be able to see who originally logged in and even report the crime.
I sent a letter to report to HBO MAX (the customer service mailbox is also blocked by a zone lock mechanism) and only received canned messages. So this whole thing also makes me feel quite disgusted with this HBO MAX service that has not yet been launched in Taiwan.
What’s even more ridiculous is that because I was writing this tutorial, I went back and looked at the original certification letter that mentioned “If you don’t have an HBO Max account or you think this email was sent in error, please contact Customer Service.” The contactable customer service page was also directed to the locked page XD.
Although I’m not sure if the other party is targeting certain mailboxes because they are zone-locked, they are so bold and use other people’s mailboxes to register their own payment information. But for this kind of loopholes caused by too thorough zone locking, I personally think that the official approach should also take a serious look at it and improve the relevant processes.
