It turns out that Microsoft’s Word also has a rand function!

To be honest, I use Excel more often than Word. Sometimes I throw data from the database to Excel for analysis, but I also use Word occasionally. Sometimes I want to see the results in the “What You See Is What You Get” Word layout, and usually feed some data. The most common way is to find an article to copy and paste or a text generator. In fact, it doesn’t have to be that troublesome. It turns out that there is a rand function in Word, which can quickly generate virtual articles to facilitate your layout testing. It is very practical.

Open a blank Word document and enter =rand(p,s) in any editing area to quickly generate a virtual article. For example, the author entered =rand(10,1) and pressed [Enter].

The picture below is a sentence screen that generates 10 paragraphs. The syntax of =rand(p,s) is very simple. The p parameter is to enter the specified number of paragraphs, and s is the value of the number of sentences in each paragraph. For example, =rand(10,1) generates 10 paragraphs with one sentence in each paragraph.

For example, if you generate 10 paragraphs with 10 sentences each, this long dummy article will make it easier for you to test the layout.

The picture below produces 5 paragraphs, each with 2 sentences.

So what if we want to produce English? The operation method is the same, but the command becomes =lorem(p,s). As shown below, 5 paragraphs of English with 2 sentences in each paragraph will be generated.

If your word cannot generate virtual articles, it may be an issue with the options in the auto-correction. Enter the word options window, select Editing on the left, and check “Automatically replace strings” in the auto-correction options on the right.
