Although most users who are accustomed to the mobile generation should have long been accustomed to finding addresses, and even information about food, drink, and entertainment, they directly open the map application on their mobile phones to search for this matter. However, this does not mean that some of the experience of using dedicated navigation machines in the past is not suitable for being placed in the new generation of mobile systems. iOS Map Tips: Quickly Search for Attractions in Phonetic Chinese
Not sure which version it started from (maybe a new operation opened by server-side update?). In short, the iPhone with the iOS 14.6 beta version currently in my hands has begun to accept the quick search function of Zhuyin/Elven text when inputting in the map application – this means that the step of selecting characters in the input method can be omitted.
This function is actually a bit like the quick input method on a navigation device. It allows you to search for possible information through the point of interest prediction on the map without having to click on the keyboard to select words – it is quite fast if you use it seriously! We have also tested other locations and found that if the phonetic method is used at the Tainan Museum of Art, it seems that there will still be a situation where the phonetic text cannot be detected smoothly.
Interestingly, I originally thought that this function could support the prediction method that the original input method has, which can directly input the beginning of Zhuyin – for example, Taipei. In Apple’s original Zhuyin input method, the default word selection can appear through “ㄊㄅ”, but in the Apple map function, you must input “ㄊㄞㄅㄟ” completely before “Taipei” related information will start to be listed.
It is said that this feature currently only supports Point of Interest searches. So if you want to enter the complete address, you still have to choose the words carefully.
