This wave of update security updates are iOS 14.5.1, iPadOS 14.5.1, watchOS 7.4.1 and macOS 11.3, which can be said to cover almost the entire Apple ecosystem. The reason why I recommend everyone to update as soon as possible is mainly because the vulnerabilities patched this time are a bit larger… There are WebKit issues including memory corruption that may be exploited to execute arbitrary code (!), and there are also issues with integer overflow that have been fixed.
This iOS/iPadOS update also includes corrections to a biased bug in App tracking. Fixes will be provided for the situation where certain apps are unable to receive notifications related to app privacy tracking.
This update will be rolled out to iPhone 6s, all iPad Pro series, iPad Air 2, iPad (fifth generation), iPad mini 4, and iPod Touch (seventh generation) and later devices. The Mac computer part can be installed by users who can install macOS Big Sur; the watchOS part can be installed by Apple Watch Series 3 and later products.
If you have already updated to iOS / iPadOS 14.5, the size of this update should not be too big. However, it is still a system update after all, so it is recommended to prepare all the backup data and have the charger ready to avoid any accidents (cross your hands).
