Clubhouse is banned; Xiaomi brings MiLiao back to life to pay tribute

I believe many people know that “Clubhouse”, which was extremely popular during the Chinese New Year, has been banned by the Chinese government, and many Chinese netizens cannot continue to use it. Although Clubhouse, known as CH for short, is actually very popular, there has been no Android version of the software since the fever started to show signs of subside. This has also led many manufacturers to start to follow the CH model and launch similar products. Among them, such as “Fam” launched by Brother Maji, or “MiLiao”, which was announced to be revived on the ban day by Xiaomi, are all tribute products launched in response to user needs.

In fact, the predecessor of “MiLiao” was Xiaomi’s exclusive instant messaging software launched in December 2010. However, Xiaomi stopped the operation of the instant messaging software “MiLiao” on February 19 due to “business changes.” I just didn’t expect that just 9 days later, “MiLiao” would be resurrected and turned into a voice calling software that paid tribute to CH.

In fact, apart from the name, the new “MiLiao” has almost nothing in common with the original product. Therefore, the user’s account will not be used, and Xiaomi officials also stated that currently “Mi Chat” will adopt an invitation system to gradually allow users to join, and will simultaneously support the two major platforms of iOS and Andoid.

The new version of MiLiao’s official website also states that MiLiao emphasizes a voice chat platform created by professionals. On the platform, you can hear the sharing and advice of people from all walks of life, and you can also “raise your hands to participate in sharing” to communicate and collide with your own ideas with friends or peers. (Does this sound familiar?)

In fact, this is not the first time that Clubhouse has been “tributed”. Long before MiLiao, there was “Fam” launched by Huang Licheng, the eldest brother of Maji, which was also available on both platforms. In China, there are also Inke’s “Dialogue Bar”, “Capital Coffee” launched by Jingzhun, and Alibaba’s collaborative work service “DingTalk”. They also took advantage of this wave of enthusiasm and added a function called “MeetClub”, which is also a tribute to CH.
