iOS 14.5, which is now being tested, not only provides Apple Watch’s mask unlock featureand 5G + 5G dual SIM dual standby functionUnexpectedly, the voice control function of third-party music services that was confirmed a long time ago (that is, asking Siri to help play music from third-party services!) has also quietly begun to be provided in this public beta version, and has been discovered by users. iOS 14.5 introduces third-party music service playback options in Siri, is full support coming?

Although as soon as I saw this news, the editor immediately ran to the phone that had installed iOS 14.5 Public Beta to look for the “Siri and Search” settings to see if there was an option for third-party music services. Unfortunately, the current beta versions of iOS and iPadOS 14.5 have not yet imported such settings. So, how did others discover and set it up?

This feature is actually still a bit bug-like at the moment (eh). According to a Reddit user, when he commanded Siri to play music with voice in iOS 14.5, he found that unlike before, he started playing music from Apple Music as a matter of course (the previous antitrust lawsuit between Apple and Spotify was based on Apple’s refusal to let people choose the default music service). There are many official third-party and Apple-related services, including YouTube Music, Castro, Apple Podcasts, etc. for people to choose to listen to.

The reason why it seems a bit like a bug is that this option currently only seems to be available for specific voice commands, and the default service will occasionally jump back to Apple Music (when iOS 14 first started to provide third-party browser settingsThere have been XD)。

Now it seems that Apple should be starting to open up the music function to third-party service defaults. But it is estimated that it will be officially launched after such a function is provided for system settings and HomePod series. You can wait a little longer – I mean this screenshot of MacRumors, it feels like it is commanding HomePod to play, right?
