For those of you who are not aware of the recent announcement of AMD graphics cards, perhaps you can pay attention to this news. Although AMD said a lot of good things about its new architecture and new cards at the press conference, the price figures announced were also very sweet. For consumers, the only thing left may be a big PK between the two main graphics cards. Unexpectedly, AMD thought faster than players, and immediately revealed the test scores of its own graphics cards and rival graphics cards in 10 mainstream games. The information is quite detailed, including not only the test platform information, but also the resolution and image quality settings during testing. It can be said that this wave of operations is aimed at NVIDIA, and it also wants to wash away the shortcomings that are often ridiculed as “reports are for reference only, actual performance must be discounted”:

AMD’s new graphics card RX 6000 series caused riots among many players as soon as it was launched. One of the biggest reasons is that the RX 6800/6900 graphics cards are really different from NVIDIA’s flagship graphics cards this time. Not only can they compete with them in terms of strength, but they are even more competitive in terms of price. These factors have allowed AMD graphics cards to win back a lot of face lost in the past in this wave of graphics card wars, and also allowed AMD graphics cards to vent their grievances over the years of being outclassed by NVIDIA.

It’s up to you to believe the official data or not. Anyway, AMD just wants to convince you that this card is really good.

However, the good performance may be supported by the briefing pictures released at the press conference, but what players are most concerned about is the actual game performance. After all, no matter how good the score is, game performance still needs to be verified, especially since mainstream games often have more stringent requirements for graphics card performance. How to convince players to be willing to spend money to buy its own products is one of AMD’s most important tasks in consumer-grade graphics cards:11

This time AMD simply aimed at the game performance that players care about most and launched an official version of a horizontal comparison report. Ten mainstream games can be seen in the report. They are:

  1. Battlefield V
  2. Borderlands 3
  3. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
  4. The Division 2 (Tom Clancy: The Division 2)
  5. DOOM Eternal
  6. Forza Horizon 4
  7. Gears 5 (Gears of War 5)
  8. Resident Evil 3 (Evil Castle 3 Final Escape)
  9. Shadow of the Tomb Raider
  10. Wolfenstein Youngblood

These games were tested by AMD and the results were charted. The system platforms all use AMD’s own processors and chipsets. As can be seen from the chart, the processor is Ryzen 9 5900X, the memory is DDR4 16GB, and the system chipset is AMD X570. In addition to the data of the RX 6000 series (usually divided into 4K and 2K resolution), there are also RTX 3080/3090 and RTX 2080 Ti that accompany the list as a control group.

Although the objectivity is insufficient, it can’t help but make people feel that the data is produced by AMD after all, and it must be suspected of being filled with data. But it is enough as a reference before buying. After all, various media now have a grasp of the performance level of this series of graphics cards. Many foreign media have recently published horizontal evaluation articles. Perhaps this data can be used as one of the confirmations to compare whether the results obtained by other test units are close.
