Google says the new Chrome Gemini for macOS, Windows, and Chromebook Plus is already based on the smartest Gemini 3 model yet, with more powerful AI features including a new sidebar interface, links to popular Google apps, automatic browsing, and Personal Intelligence coming in the coming months.

First up is the “new sidebar” — like many AI browsers, Gemini can now open directly in the sidebar, allowing users to get real-time assistance no matter which tab they’re on.

The AI agent features everyone’s been waiting for are now officially rolling out to US Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, with Gemini in Chrome able to auto-browse to complete tasks for you.

Current capabilities include: comparing hotel and flight prices across different dates, planning itineraries, filling out online forms, gathering tax documents, getting quotes for plumbing and electrical repairs, checking if bills have been paid, submitting expense reimbursement requests, managing subscription services, and even recognizing screen content to search for similar products, adding items to cart, and helping apply discount codes.

Google also mentioned that, with user permission, it can handle tasks requiring login through Google Password Manager.

Additionally, Chrome will also support the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) in the future, enabling AI agents to seamlessly complete shopping tasks for users.

Regarding security, Google emphasizes that Chrome Gemini has established rigorous security protection mechanisms and introduced new defense designs to ensure users are not exposed to emerging cyber threats. It will also pause and wait for your confirmation before performing sensitive operations like shopping or posting, giving users full control.

And the Personal Intelligence section, just like the experience in the Gemini App, will be brought to Chrome in the coming months.

Chrome remembers the context of your past conversations to give you more relevant responses; you can also add custom instructions so Gemini answers in a way that better fits your habits.
