Gmail is arguably the primary email service used by many people, even for work. In the long run, there must be a lot of important emails, communication processes, attached files, etc. in the mailbox. Although Gmail should basically not lose data, it is still better to develop the habit of backing up. In addition, sometimes you will encounter a situation where the space is full. In this case, you can rely on backup to immediately free up more space. Continue below to learn how to back up Gmail.

Instructions for backing up Gmail
first,Go to the Google Account page, make sure you’re signed in with the correct Google Account, then click “Profile & Personalization” on the left:

Scroll down the menu on the right and find the “Download, delete data, or plan for data” section. You will see the “Download your data” option:

By default, all Google-related information will be checked. It is recommended to uncheck all of them first, otherwise the file will be very large. Then check the Google data you want to back up. Scroll down and you will find the Gmail email. There are also “MBOX format” and “Include all email data” options below. MBOX cannot be modified:
The email content option is set to All by default. If you only want to export emails with specific labels, uncheck “Include all messages in emails” to specify the options you want:

Scroll down to find “Next”:

Select the transmission method, frequency, and file type and size. If you don’t have special needs, just use the default, that is, you don’t need to make any changes:

After clicking Next, the export will begin. This will take a while. In my case, it took about 30 minutes. You can close this page and do other things first. When the export is completed, Google will send an email to notify you:

As shown below, you will receive this email. By default, if it exceeds 2GB, it will be divided into multiple files, like mine, there are two (Download 1, Download 2). The letter will also indicate the validity period of the download link. Remember to download it before this time. If it is exceeded, it will become invalid and you need to do it again:

The original export job page will also display detailed information, such as file size, creation date, expiration date, etc. The MBOX format after downloading can be MOBX Viewer Or open it with other software:

In addition to Gmail, the method of backing up other Google account data is the same. Just select the service step and select the Google service you want to back up.
