We all know that if you don’t want to receive message notifications from chat rooms in LINE, you can temporarily turn off notifications for a specific chat room through “Close Reminder”. When there are new messages in the chat room, push notification reminders will not be sent. However, if you want to send LINE messages to your friends at night but are worried about disturbing them, then LINE Android users can now be the first to experience the new “Silent Message” feature in LINE Labs! As long as you select Silent Message when sending a message, it will be sent quietly to the chat room without sending a reminder notification.

LINE Labs is a trial function that LINE releases in advance for iOS or Android versions before new features are officially launched. For example, in the past, LINE first launched an experimental feature of chat room screenshots for iOS users in LINE Labs. Later, this feature was officially launched on the iOS platform, and it is finally supported on the Android platform. However, the functions of LINE Labs on iOS and Android systems are slightly different, and the experimental phase of the function may end at any time, but it is still quite interesting for LINE users who want to try out new features first.

Recently, LINE Labs launched the “Silent Message” feature on the Android version, which can send messages without sending reminders. As long as you are a LINE Android version user, you can go to “Settings” > “LINE Labs” and check “Silent Messages” to turn it on:

After the “Silent Message” function setting is turned on, just long press the send button next to the message box in the chat room, and you can choose to “send normally” or the newly launched experimental function “silent send”.
The silent message function is currently only applicable to sending text, photo, video and sticker messages. If the message is sent as a “silent message”, no matter whether the other party has closed the reminder of the chat room with you, the message will not sound a reminder notification, and only unread messages will be displayed in the chat room list. If you do not select silent messaging by long pressing, the default message will still be sent in the normal way.

In addition, it is worth mentioning that although this function can currently only be sent by the Android version, even if the sender is using the iOS system or the computer version, the sound effect of the reminder notification will not be received when receiving a “silent message”. Although to be honest, this function is rarely used in daily life, but for some night owls who are used to sending messages before going to bed, if they are worried about disturbing others by sending messages, they should learn to use this function!
