Although the i7 has stepped down from the throne, there seems to be some subtle changes in the world of the 10th generation Intel® Core™ S series processors. At the online press conference a few days ago, you can discover its subtleties. I still remember that when the 9th generation i9 appeared, I really bought the 8C/16T with tears. Finally, the home version of the processor has the performance of the ultimate version of the processor. For creators like us, we have really seen another dawn. Now, this dawn is even more dazzling with the 10th generation Intel processor.
This time, the new i9-10900K has been directly upgraded to 10C/20T. I still remember that the last time I saw such high specifications was the Intel® Core™ i7-6950X Extreme Edition processor, but it has been 4 years. On the 10th generation home version processor in 2020, the ultra-high specifications of 10C/20T finally appeared.
The configurations of i7, i5, and i3 should also be finalized. 8C/16T, 6C/12T, and 4C/8T may be what the new i7, i5, and i3 will look like in the future. The editor can make a prediction. It should still be the same configuration in the 12th generation!?
No more nonsense Let me show you the actual test
Perhaps in order to distinguish it from the previous configuration, the 10th generation processor has replaced the new LGA1200 pin, but this also means that the Intel 300 series chipset motherboard is incompatible with the 10th generation. When upgrading the Intel 10th generation processor, you must also replace the Intel 400 series chipset motherboard. (For this actual measurement, the editor used the ROG STRIX Z490-A GAMING motherboard for testing)
There is a small point that the editor would like to mention before the actual measurement. Because the i9-10900K uses Intel Termal Velocity Boost technology, it can automatically overclock to 5.3GHz as long as the temperature is maintained below 70. Therefore, when it comes to fan selection, the official recommendation is to directly use integrated water cooling as the correct solution for the i9-10900K. Because of this, the i9-10900K can run to the highest frequency (the theoretical highest) without any additional settings. Therefore, in this test, the editor conducted the actual test without additional overclocking settings.
First, CPU-Z was used for the core test. The overall score was 7379.3, while the single-core performance was 591.4.
We can use CPU-Z Benchmark RankingLet’s make a comparison on this page. First is the overall performance. The score of 7379.3 is between AMD Ryzen 9 3900 (24T) and AMD Threadripper 2920X (24T), but it can be noted that in this score range, in addition to being 24T or above, more are workstation processors, which means that the home version of the i9-10900K also has the performance of a workstation, and has a more powerful performance in entertainment or creation. Compared with the strongest i9-9900K of the previous generation, this score has improved the overall performance by nearly 30%.
The single-core 591.4 directly claimed the top spot in the rankings. This shows the power of Intel Termal Velocity Boost technology, which can rank one in single-core computing without additional overclocking.
Then we used CineBench R20 to do another test. The overall CPU ran out 6129 cb, but the single core also had a strength of 502 cb.
We found the sameCinebench R20 Benchmark results (Multi-Core), in the overall computing part of the CPU, 6129 cb is between Intel Core i9-9960X and Intel Core i9-9940X. It also shows once again that the home version of the processor can rival the extreme version of the processor.
Of course, as the editor mentioned before, the i9-10900K is a great blessing for creators, so we used x264 FHD Benchmark for testing and ran an overspeed conversion of 64.8 FPS. Compared to the 62.8 FPS of the i9-9900K, the performance is much improved.
Screening in the same scene No. 10Generation Intel® Core™ i5-10600K
We put the i5-10600K through the same test as the i9-10900K. In the CPU-Z core test, the overall score was 4013.5, while the single-core performance was 529.4.
Also on the CPU-Z Benchmark Ranking page, the 12T part is only a little bit short of achieving dominance.
In the CineBench R20 test of the i5-10600K, the overall CPU part ran out 3360 cb, but the single core was 469 cb.
In the ranking of Cinebench R20 Benchmark results (Multi-Core), there is not much difference between the i5-10600K and the previous generation i7-9700K, but this is an i5!!!
In the x264 FHD Benchmark test, it achieved a score of 45.9 FPS.
