Perhaps because the trend of brand-customized mobile phone default apps has passed, most mobile phone manufacturers seem to have slowed down innovative features for default apps recently. Compared to the Google Phone app, which is constantly launching new features to enhance its presence, it really makes people feel as if the mobile phones in their hands only have routine security updates. Fortunately, Google has now officially opened this application to third parties for installation, and it is no longer limited to Pixel and Android One phones.
This phone application created by Google natively supports switching voice calls to Google Duo, and is equipped with harassment/advertising call blocking and caller ID functions. It also supports visual voicemail functions. The most interesting thing recently is that you can use the new real-time voice transcription to let the voice assistant act as your real phone assistant. Unfortunately, this Call Screen function is still limited to Pixel devices and is only available in English (US).
According to reports from Android Police, this open test can already be installed and used on Asus Zenfone 6, Oppo Find X2 Pro and the LG V6. It is confirmed that Samsung and OnePlus devices are not yet available (woohoo, my Galaxy S8+ is really not installed).
