I believe that friends who are using some shopping websites or banking apps will be full of questions after reading this article – because they don’t know how long ago, there seem to be many apps that have pushed ads… I didn’t expect that there are official restrictions? The editor also has similar questions like everyone else, but in fact, the App Store’s long-standing guidelines prohibit apps from using push notifications for “advertising, promotion, or direct marketing purposes.” But as you know this, Apple recently announced that it has lifted this restriction (eh). Apple has lifted the ban on app advertising push notifications. Does this mean you will receive a lot of ads?

Speaking of the reason why Apple suddenly lifted this restriction, some foreign media speculated that it may be because the official itself stepped on the line before and used push notifications to promote Apple Music and Carpool Karaoke. Of course, it’s difficult for us to really understand the actual reason, but the result is that in the latest Guidelines, the App Store can now allow push notifications about advertising—as long as the user allows it.

Yes, this should answer the first question that many people may be concerned about: “Does this mean that the phone will receive a full number of advertising notifications?” Because if the App excessively pushes such notifications, you will have the ability to turn off such notifications, and you should be asked to obtain notification permissions from the beginning.

In fact, I personally view this change quite positively. Mainly from personal experience, I feel that many applications seem to have already used normal notifications for promotional advertising purposes (maybe they were not caught because they were in Chinese?). What was more annoying before was that important notifications such as bank or trading information were usually mixed in, so important information was ignored.

In fact, some apps have previously been able to select the type of notification push in the settings. This regulation adjustment not only allows you (and developers) to directly avoid user troubles through more intuitive settings, but it may also mean that Apple will more strictly manage this type of advertising push (probably). I just hope that the App Store’s policy this time can really force app manufacturers to classify advertisements properly, and not end up secretly placing them in general notifications because they are afraid that users will turn off notifications in this regard…
