After a long period of testing, Microsoft’s new-generation Edge browser based on Chromium has been officially available for download on the official website. The point is, this time the reborn Edge browser has been greatly assisted in cross-platform support. Not only can its own Windows system directly support Windows 7 (as well as Windows 8.1 and Windows 8), but macOS and even the current mainstream Android and iOS can all be downloaded directly from the official website (if you want to try it,The portal is here）。
Since the core is already built with Chromium, Edge also supports “extensions” like Google Chrome. Taking the editor’s macOS version as an example, you can choose three levels of privacy settings when you first use it, log in to your Microsoft account, and customize the appearance of the Edge browser and other functions. However, the IE browser compatibility mode on Windows does not seem to be seen in the macOS version – no surprise.
I still hope that many Microsoft browser-only services can make more services willing to officially support Chrome/Edge browsers after Microsoft fully imports the Chromium core browser into Windows systems. This should be good news for multi-platform users.
