This discovery was made by AI developer Tibor Blaho, the Chief Engineer of AIPRM, a prompt management tool. He has previously accurately predicted that ChatGPT would introduce advertising features, making this finding highly relevant.
While inspecting the code for ChatGPT’s web version, Blaho found strings related to the checkout page that reference a “ChatGPT Pro Lite” plan, currently priced at $100 per month. PCWorld also confirmed that keywords such as “PROLITE” and “chatgptprolite” do appear in the code of the pricing page. However, the checkout page has not been activated yet, and the plan description still uses the existing Pro plan content, so it remains unclear how much the details will differ.
Pro Lite sits right between the Plus and Pro plans, and its target audience is clearly users who find Plus insufficient but don’t need Pro’s more advanced features. OpenAI hasn’t officially confirmed or announced details yet, so everyone should just keep that in mind for now. Personally, I think the chances of it launching are pretty high—after all, the price gap between Plus and Pro is huge, so adding another plan seems more reasonable.
If officially launched, this would give OpenAI a more stable revenue stream and improve user retention, since not everyone needs the most advanced features. Offering more pricing flexibility would encourage more users to stay on the ChatGPT platform rather than switch to other AI tools.
