For a long time, MacBook It has always given people the impression of being exquisite but difficult to repair. Many parts even need to be replaced as a whole set. But recentlydismantleThe video surprised many people.
YouTube Channel Teardown Brand New MacBook Neo , the whole process only took about 6 minutes. From the screw design, battery fixation method to multiple modular parts, this laptop is structurally significantly different from past MacBooks.

Completed in 6 minutes! MacBook Neo disassembled and exposed, may be the most repairable Mac in history

For many maintenance engineers and technology enthusiasts, one of the most anticipated contents after the launch of a new product is the teardown video. Through disassembly, you can get a glimpse of the internal design of the product, understand the brand’s way of thinking about the engineering structure, and judge the difficulty of future maintenance. Recent YouTube Repair Channels Tech Re-Nu The results of the disassembly of Apple’s new MacBook Neo surprised many people.

The video shows that it only took about 6 minutes to disassemble the entire MacBook Neo from start to finish. For a modern laptop, such a disassembly speed is actually quite rare, and it also indirectly reflects that the internal structural design is quite simple. Tech Re-Nu mentioned in the video that this may be the most modular and easiest to repair MacBook in recent years.

Let’s start from the outside first. To open the MacBook Neo’s aluminum body, you only need to remove 8 screws at the bottom. This is actually similar to the design of MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, but the internal structure is obviously different.
MacBook Neo uses standard Torx screws, including T3, T5 and T8 specifications. This design is very friendly to maintenance personnel because no special tools are required for disassembly.

After opening the bottom case, you can see that the motherboard is quite small and the overall internal layout is very simple.

The MacBook Neo has fewer parts than a regular MacBook, and it looks a bit like the entire design has been kept as simple as possible. The video also mentioned that there is not even a shaft cover inside this machine, making the structure more straightforward.

In the past, many MacBook batteries were fixed with strong glue and required the use of solvents or special tools to remove them. But on the MacBook Neo, the battery uses no glue at all. The entire battery is fixed to the fuselage by 18 screws. Just remove the screws in sequence and you can lift the battery directly.

There are no easy-pull strips or strong adhesives in the whole process.

Tech Re-Nu also noted during the teardown that there was very little tape or glue to be found throughout the entire body. This is actually quite rare in modern Mac computers.

Next, let’s look at the various I/O and peripheral parts. MacBook Neo’s two USB-C ports are modular in design, which means that if the port is damaged, the module can be replaced individually without replacing the entire motherboard.
The speaker module also adopts independent design. The video shows that only 4 screws are needed to remove the speaker, and no glue is used to fix it. This design is quite friendly to maintenance and can also reduce future maintenance costs. The headphone jack also adopts a modular structure. If the headphone jack has poor contact or is damaged, only a single part needs to be replaced.

During the entire disassembly process, the only place where a small amount of glue can be seen is where the touchpad cable connects to the motherboard. However, the amount of glue used in this part is quite small, mainly just to fix the wiring position.

It is worth noting that Tech Re-Nu did not completely disassemble the MacBook Neo, but they still confirmed an important piece of information, that is, the keyboard can be replaced separately.

In many MacBook models, if there is a problem with the keyboard, it is often necessary to replace the entire C side, which is a complete module including the keyboard, battery and upper cover. Repair costs are often very high. But on the MacBook Neo, it appears the keyboard can be removed and serviced separately. This is a very big improvement for the overall repair score.

Judging from the overall design, Apple seems to be taking a different strategy with this entry-level laptop. Compared with the high-end MacBook Pro that emphasizes integration and performance, the MacBook Neo prioritizes simplicity, low cost, and maintainability.
This may also be related to product positioning. MacBook Neo focuses on a more affordable price, hoping to attract students and entry-level users. If the repair cost is too high, it will reduce the attractiveness of the product. Therefore, adopting modular design is actually a good thing for consumers.
Of course, more complete disassembly and repair scores are still needed to confirm the actual degree of repairability. However, judging from the preliminary disassembly results of Tech Re-Nu, the structural design of MacBook Neo is indeed significantly different from past Macs.
