Apple The first foldable iPhone cell phone iPhone Ultra(or iPhone Fold) news continues to heat up. This time not only the renderings have been exposed, but the actual design details and core specifications have also been further revealed. From body thickness, screen crease control, to battery capacity and lens configuration, even the unlocking method may undergo major changes. This new phone, positioned as the top iPhone of the year, seems to be more than simply trying a folding design, but wants to redefine the experience of using high-end mobile phones.

Apple reveals new information about foldable iPhone Ultra, details on thickness, battery, lens

Rumors about Apple’s foldable iPhone can be said to have entered an explosive period recently. In addition to the appearance renderings, the video released by well-known tipster Jon Prosser through the FPT channel further revealed many key details of the iPhone Ultra, making the overall outline clearer.
Judging from current information, Apple’s product strategy may undergo significant adjustments this year. Rumors indicate that the main models in 2026 will be concentrated in three models, including iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the new iPhone Ultra (or iPhone Fold), while other models may be delayed.

Judging from the renderings, the iPhone Ultra adopts a different design thinking from the current mainstream folding machines. The body is shorter when folded, but wider when unfolded, favoring a horizontal use experience. As for the “crease” issue that everyone is most concerned about, there is also specific data this time. The leak states that the crease depth is approximately 0.15 mm. Although it is not completely invisible, it is already much improved than early folding machines.

The key lies in the hinge design. The iPhone Ultra is rumored to use a liquid metal hinge and combine it with 3D printing technology to produce internal parts. The advantage of this is that it can balance strength and precision while reducing the visual impact of creases.
In fact, Apple has long been using 3D printed parts. For example, it has similar applications in the structure of Apple Watch or iPhone Air. Therefore, the introduction of folding machines this time is not a new technology, but the application level is further.

In terms of thickness, iPhone Ultra still takes the extremely thin and light route. The thickness of the folded state is about 9.5 mm, and the thickness of the unfolded body is about 4.5 mm. This data is already thinner than the iPhone Air and close to the level of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.

But in order to achieve such thickness, Apple seems to have made a key trade-off, which is to cancel Face ID. Because the Face ID module takes up a lot of space, it is difficult to insert into the phone when the body is extremely thin. Therefore, the iPhone Ultra is likely to change back to Touch ID and integrate it on the power button.
For some users, this may not be a step back, but a more intuitive way to unlock. But it also means that Apple has indeed made a lot of trade-offs in design.

In terms of camera lens configuration, it is reported that the iPhone Ultra will adopt a dual-lens design, with a 48-megapixel wide-angle main lens and a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. What’s special is that this time it may not be equipped with a telephoto lens. The reason is actually very practical. The internal space of a foldable phone is limited, so it is quite difficult to insert a periscope lens.

As for the front lens, it is divided into two forms. The outer screen retains the normal front lens, and the inner screen may use an under-screen lens. If the under-screen lens version is eventually adopted, the inner screen can be designed with no openings, and the visual experience will be more immersive.

Battery life and performance are also the focus this time. It is reported that the iPhone Ultra will be equipped with a battery of approximately 5800 mAh, which is the largest capacity among all iPhones currently.

The reason why such a large battery can be packed in mainly comes from several key factors:

  • Screen driver components shrink
  • Internal space reconfiguration
  • Using high-density battery technology

At the same time, this new machine is expected to be equipped with an A20 Pro chip, 12GB RAM, and a C2 data chip. The C2 modem is considered to be the key. It can effectively improve communication efficiency and reduce power consumption, further extending battery life.

Conclusion

Judging from these current revelations, iPhone Ultra is not simply a product that joins the folding market, but is more like Apple’s comprehensive attempt at future mobile phone forms. From liquid metal hinges and 3D printed structures to under-screen lenses and high-density batteries, every design shows Apple wants to solve long-standing problems with foldable phones, such as creases, thickness and battery life.

Of course, in order to achieve these goals, there are also trade-offs like canceling Face ID. Whether these choices will ultimately be accepted by the market remains to be verified after the actual machine is launched. But what is certain is that the iPhone The Ultra is no longer just another new phone, but the starting point for a whole new product category.
