Google Recently, it can be said that [they] have been continuously strengthening their… AI The various functions of the tool can be modified NotebookLM After the presentation, earlier today they also enhanced another very popular feature, “Video Summary,” with Gemini 3,Nano Banana Pro Combined with the capabilities of the Veo 3 model, we are launching the new “Cinematic Video Overviews” feature. This means future video summaries are no longer simple slideshows! They will use various AI-generated videos and images to enhance explanations.

NotebookLM Major Update: AI Video Summaries Now Offer a ‘Cinematic’ Experience

NotebookLM’s video overview feature was first introduced back in July 2025. It automatically generates a slideshow-style video with AI narration based on the source material you upload, such as PDFs, documents, web pages, or YouTube links.

The AI will act like a host, narrating content with natural voice while selecting images, charts, quotes, or key figures from your data to create slides. Users can also use prompts to customize video highlights, visual style (such as classic or anime style), and even choose between an “explanation video (detailed version)” or a “summary (concise version).” The overall experience is like a teacher explaining with PowerPoint-style presentations to help users quickly grasp complex content.

While the generated quality is quite good, the current visuals are still largely static with limited dynamic effects. Earlier, Google announced on their official blog that NotebookLM video summaries will be completely upgraded to “Cinematic Video Overviews.” Compared to the previous version, the biggest difference is that it’s no longer just “narration paired with slides,” but instead creates a more immersive, cinema-like complete video experience.

“Cinematic Video Summary” generates smooth animations and rich, detailed visual effects based on the content, making storytelling more vivid and coherent. Behind the scenes, it uses several of Google’s advanced AI models, with Gemini 3 serving as the “Creative Director” — responsible for determining the best narrative structure, visual style, and format, while also automatically refining content to maintain consistency. It’s then paired with Nano Banana Pro and Veo 3 models to generate animations and detailed visuals.

After opening the video summary, there will be an additional Cinematic (movie-grade) option:

Google describes this as AI creating a unique visual story tailored just for you, no longer confined to slide frameworks. For tech novices, you simply upload a research report or meeting notes, and AI automatically turns them into a vivid video, making it easier to absorb information without having to visualize the content yourself.

Cinematic Video Overviews is now officially available, but only to select users—specifically those subscribed to the Google AI Ultra plan. It can only generate content in English, similar to when the video overview feature was first launched. However, Google has promised to roll it out to AI Pro users in the future, though it’s still unclear whether free users will get access.

Cinematic Video Overviews are officially 100% rolled out to all Ultra users in English!

To our faithful Pro users— don't worry, we haven't forgotten about you. You've always been part of our roadmap 😉

No promises on timing yet, but watch this space!
