An Israeli artificial intelligence company, Lightricks, recently officially released its latest LTX 2.3 Open-source video generation modelsA major upgrade to the previous LTX-2 model. Its key feature is the ability to directly generate high-quality videos with synchronized audio within a single model, supporting up to 4K resolution at 50 FPS, with a maximum length of 20 seconds. AI videoAnd natively supports vertical (9:16) video format to meet social media content creation needs.

Four Major Tech Upgrades Enhance Prompt Understanding and Image Quality

LTX 2.3 has undergone major upgrades across multiple core technologies. First, the text encoder has been scaled up 4x, significantly improving prompt comprehension and enabling accurate rendering of camera movements, composition, and character actions—making generated results more aligned with creators’ expectations.

The newly designed VAE (Variational Autoencoder) delivers sharper details and more stable motion quality, effectively addressing the common blur issues found in previous versions. It also supports LoRA for video style transfer functionality.

Image-to-Video (I2V) functionality is integrated into the model architecture from the training stage, significantly reducing frame stagnation and the so-called “Kennaburs effect,” resulting in smoother transitions between consecutive frames, while also supporting first-last frame functionality and native portrait and landscape video generation.

Audio quality has been simultaneously improved as well, making it one of the few local open-source models that supports simultaneous audio and video generation. The new vocoder reduces background noise and enhances audio-visual synchronization, solving the common problem of audio delay or desynchronization in AI-generated videos. Free Desktop App Launches Simultaneously; Windows Version Requires High-End Hardware

With the model’s release, Lightricks has also launched the free desktop application LTX Desktop, enabling users to run video generation tasks directly on their personal computers. The application supports both Windows (local running) and macOS (API running) platforms.

The Windows version has fairly high hardware requirements, with the minimum recommended specification being 32GB VRAM (video memory), 32GB RAM (system memory), and 60GB of available storage. This threshold means only high-end gaming consoles or professional workstations can run it smoothly.

The Pro version offers advanced features: audio-to-video and video extension

Beyond the open-source version, Lightricks has also launched LTX 2.3 Pro simultaneously, offering API access through the Replicate platform. The Pro version supports several advanced features, including audio-to-video (converting audio into corresponding dynamic visuals), video remastering (improving the resolution and quality of existing footage), and video extension (extending short clips into longer content).

Open Source Licensing and Hardware Compatibility

LTX 2.3 adopts an open-source free license, allowing companies with annual revenue below $10 million to freely use the model for commercial development. In terms of technical details, the model has landed on HuggingFace A platform that provides open-source weight checkpoint downloads, supports LoRA training and ComfyUI integration, making it easy for developers to fine-tune and customize, and currently also hasTrial PlatformYou can experience its powerful features hands-on.

The current version only supports NVIDIA GPU acceleration, while compatibility with AMD and Intel graphics cards is still under development.

Conclusion

The release of LTX 2.3 showcases the continued evolution of open-source video generation models, not only achieving breakthroughs in image quality and fluidity but also integrating audio synchronization as a standard feature—a significant tool milestone for content creators. However, the high hardware requirements still limit its adoption rate among the general public. Finding the balance between performance and accessibility will be a challenge Lightricks needs to address going forward.
