Spotify recently announced that parents no longer need to purchase a premium membership plan to create a secure Spotify account for their children. This “managed account” service, which was originally limited to certain subscription levels, is now officially open to all users and is the first to be launched in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, France, Germany and the Netherlands. In terms of security and content control, Spotify has designed multiple layers of protection for managed accounts, and parents can filter explicit content and restrict the playback of specific artists or songs. All video content and Canvas dynamic visual effects are turned off by default, and children will not be able to make any purchases or use messaging features. In addition, escrow accounts are automatically set to private status and cannot be searched, further reducing the risk of external interactions.
The setup process is also quite simple. Parents only need to open Spotify on their mobile phone, click on the profile icon, select “New Account”, and then click “Create Hosted Account”. You can then set a display name and content preferences for your child.
